  • Publication number: 20260126307
Abstract: A sensor assembly of a magnetostrictive displacement sensor includes a waveguide, a pickup sensing element, a balanced line driver circuit and a cable connector. The pickup sensing element is configured to generate a high impedance sensor response signal through a positive pickup terminal and a negative pickup terminal in response to a magnetostrictive response in the waveguide. The balanced line driver circuit includes positive and negative response signal circuits respectively configured to produce a positive sensor signal at a low impedance and a negative sensor signal at a low impedance based on the high impedance sensor response signal at the positive and negative pickup terminals. The cable connector includes a positive sensor terminal coupled to the positive sensor signal and a negative sensor terminal coupled to the negative sensor signal.

  • Publication number: 20250199106
Abstract: A magnetostrictive position measuring system includes a waveguide, an excitation generator configured to generate an excitation signal, a target magnet configured to generate a magnetostrictive response in response to the excitation signal, one or more sensing elements and a controller. The sensing elements are configured to generate at least one electrical response signal based on the magnetostrictive response that includes a longitudinal wave indicator and a torsional wave indicator. The controller is configured to identify the longitudinal wave and torsional wave indicators, calculate a first candidate position of the target magnet along the longitudinal axis based on the longitudinal wave indicator, calculate a second candidate position of the target magnet along the longitudinal axis based on the torsional wave indicator and generate an output based on the first and second candidate positions.

  • Patent number: 8427137
Abstract: A transducer senses repetitive pulses on a magnetostrictive element and provides transducer output bursts. A transducer circuit detects the transducer output bursts. An energy storage device couples to a power input of the transducer circuit. A switching power supply couples to the energy storage device and has repetitive suppressed states during which switching in the switching power supply is suppressed. A sequence circuit provides synchronization of the repetitive suppressed states of the switching power supply with the transducer output bursts.

  • Patent number: 8054066
Abstract: An assembly includes a magnetostrictive transducer that provides a transducer output. Amplifier circuitry receives the transducer output and generates a transducer output burst and a bias output burst. The transducer output burst and bias output burst overlap in time and differ by a phase difference. A burst processor receives the transducer output burst and the bias output burst. The burst processor provides a displacement output that is a function of a time when the transducer output burst and the bias output burst are at the same voltage level.

  • Patent number: 8035372
Abstract: A magnetostrictive position or elongation sensor of the type in which an elongated magnetorestrictive waveguide is influenced by a magnetic field from a moving magnet has a Villary type transformer at one end and a hermetically sealed housing containing the signal processing circuitry on a plurality of circuit boards. The signal processor can switch the sensor into a programmable mode in which a diagnostic output is obtained recognizing the magnet, the presence of the sensor in the programming mode and voltage values.
