  • Patent number: 11614135
Abstract: The invention relates to a brake piston 1 for a brake caliper 9 of a disk brake, which is produced using working processes from a metallic material, in particular from a flat metal sheet, and is formed in one piece as a unilaterally open pot with a piston longitudinal axis A, with a piston wall 2 and with a piston head 3. There is a need for robust and light as well as alternatively constructed, efficiently producible and well guided brake pistons. The object is achieved firstly in principle on the basis of a cup-shapedly worked brake piston blank 19, in that at least one locally defined, i.e. partially cold-upset or partially ironed, cylindrical piston wall portion is present with a partially deformed piston wall 2 which is configured in adaptively modified manner by plastic material deformation by means of material redistribution (flow) including strain-hardening of its piston wall thickness of sl?x.

  • Patent number: 11236826
Abstract: A pot-shaped, cold-formed steel brake piston as a pot which is open on one side includes a base and a wall including inner and outer walls, a radially inwardly configured groove is open in a radially outward direction and forms, radially at the inside, a groove bead projection. The open side of the pot ends as a bearing for a friction pad backplate. Interfaces integrated at the inside on the end side serve a) for the fixing between friction pad and steel brake piston and b) as support bearing for spring mounting the friction pad. An aspect is a further improved steel brake piston of the new generation. The minimum inner diameter dimin is axially set back in the direction of the base by a multiple of the length of a wall thickness s, and the minimum piston inner diameter dimin is formed by the groove bead projection.

  • Publication number: 20200256413
Abstract: The invention relates to a cold-formed steel brake piston 1 for a motor vehicle partial-pad disc brake brake pad with a thin-walled structure as a cup open at one end and comprising a base 2 and a wall 3 with a radially outwardly impressed groove 6 in the wall 3 and with a radially inwardly impressed wall projection 7. The invention has the object of providing a further improved stable steel brake piston construction with an improved interface which can be used flexibly and cost-effectively for both large-bore and small-bore steel brake pistons 1. This object is accomplished by making the wall 3 with at least one groove 14 and at least one land 15 at a distance from wall projection 7 profiled in such a way that wall 3 has wall surface areas of varying thickness which are spaced apart from each other in the circumferential direction with a spacing V.

  • Patent number: 9151385
Abstract: A multi-part piston for a brake saddle of a hydraulically and/or mechanically and/or electromechanically actuated disk brake is described herein. The piston is a pot open on one side and including a base and a wall attached thereto in one piece. The base can be impinged by brake pressure coming from the inside of the pot so that an outward-facing abutting surface of the base can be pressed against a brake lining. The inside of the pot receives at least one pressure piece associated with a parking brake mechanism. For simplified manufacture in the form of a modular piston system for use in various applications, it is proposed that the pressure piece and the base comprise conical surfaces facing one another for transferring braking pressure.

  • Patent number: 8869677
Abstract: A piston for a brake caliper of a disc brake constructed as a pot which is open at one end, having a longitudinal axis, a wall, and a piston head. The piston is supported in a cylinder of the brake caliper such that it can be moved along the longitudinal direction, and it can be placed against a brake pad in the region of the piston head by an axial contact surface. When the piston is subjected to pressure by a hydraulic fluid, the piston moves in the cylinder and presses the brake pad against a brake disc. A projection having a conical surface is provided on an inner surface of the piston head. A recess is provided, which is substantially at the same distance from the longitudinal axis as the projection on the inner surface of the piston head, on an outer surface of the piston head.

  • Patent number: 8522679
Abstract: A press with gripper rails for grasping and relocating workpieces onto a work table, the gripper rails being movable in a horizontal plane and vertically by a transfer device. The gripper rails are connected to the respective parts of the transfer device by gripper rail couplings, a locking mechanism with a tie rod being provided, which locks or frees the gripper rail coupling. To actuate the locking mechanism, an actuating element is provided which displaces the tie rod between a holding position and a releasing position and which can be actuated by the gripper rail coupling being lowered or raised. Furthermore, the locking mechanism has a spring element which holds the tie rod in the holding position. Finally, the locking mechanism has a latching mechanism with a detent, which fixes the tie rod in the releasing position and which is freed automatically when the gripper rail coupling is being coupled.

  • Patent number: 8037810
Abstract: A piston for a hydraulic brake configured as a bowl, open on one side, with a longitudinal axis, a wall and a bottom, and is delimited on an open end face by a rim with an axial abutment surface which is movable into abutment on a brake pad. The bottom has an essentially plane outside surface, a wall thickness of the bottom is thicker than a minimum wall thickness of the wall, and at a transition area between bottom and wall, a wall thickness of the wall is continuously increasing towards the bottom, thus, the wall passing over into the bottom in a slope. Furthermore, a method including forming a disc-shaped round blank into a bowl-type hollow cylinder, and upsetting the hollow cylinder in its longitudinal axis so that the bottom material is thickened due to the upsetting operation.

  • Patent number: 6807897
Abstract: The present invention relates to a hydraulic piston and a process for its surface treatment in order to improve above all the wear resistance and corrosion resistance at the surface of the piston. As a favorable manufacturing process for the surface treatment of an above-mentioned hydraulic piston, a multistage process is disclosed which arranges a nitrocarburization with a subsequent oxidation and a following mechanical solidification of the oxidized surface for the piston. As a result, several superposed layers—layer of oxide, connecting layer, diffusion layer—develop at the piston surface which exhibit the desired qualities.
