  • Patent number: 5877227
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a low density flexible polyurethane foam and the process of making the same from a polyisocyanate composition and an isocyanate reactive composition wherein the polyisocyanate composition comprises a semi-prepolymer which is the reaction product of an excess of a base isocyanate formulation with a polyoxyethylene polyol, said base isocyanate formulation comprising a mixture of diphenylmethane diisocyanate and polyphenylpolymethylene polyisocyanate, said diphenylmethane diisocyanate comprising, inter alia, 2, 4'-MDI in prescribed amounts, whereby the functionality of the base isocyanate formulation ranges from 2.07 to 2.12 and said isocyanate reactive composition comprises water, a second polyoxyethylene polyol, a cross-linker and catalyst.

  • Patent number: 5621016
Abstract: Polyisocyanate compositions are provided which comprise the reaction product of a diphenylmethane diisocyanate composition comprising 25 to 70% by weight of 2,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and an isocyanate-reactive polyoxyethylene polyoxypropylene polyahl having an ethylene oxide content of at least 30% by weight, a number average hydroxyl equivalent weight of 700-2000 and an average nominal hydroxyl functionality of 2-6, the reaction product having a free NCO content of 2-31% by weight.

  • Patent number: 4752626
Abstract: This invention generally relates to a high resilience urethane foam (HR foam) having low compression set at a wide range of isocyanate index for use in small void filling in integrated foam parts. The small voids formed in the molding process of integrated foam parts can be filled without penetration of foaming liquids into existing foam cells. In addition, resulting foams have very low compression set values at a wide range of isocyanate index. The foaming system of the present invention is composed of two components, i.e., thixotropic polyisocyanate component and thixotropic polyol component. Their thixotropicity is obtained by adding benzal sorbitol into respective components. The polyisocyanate is selected from organic polyisocyanates and the polyol component is prepared by mixing a polyol blend composed of a polyolefinic polyol and a polyoxyalkylene polyol in a weight ratio between 95/5 to 50/50, a blowing agent, a surfactant and a catalyst.

  • Patent number: 4180465
Abstract: A fluid collection device includes a blood collection tube having a negative pressure therein and sealed at one end by a stopper pierceable by a needle cannula for drawing a blood specimen into the tube for centrifugal separation into a relatively light phase, plasma or serum, and a relatively heavy phase including the blood cells. A quantity of a gel-like mixture of liquid hydrocarbon-polymer, such as polybutene, and an inorganic powder, such as silica powder, is disposed in the tube. The gel-like mixture has a specific gravity intermediate those of the relatively light and heavy phases of the blood so that during centrifugation, the gel-like mixture moves to a position between the phases to provide a partition barrier between them.

  • Patent number: 4088582
Abstract: A blood collection device includes a tube for receiving a sample of whole blood for centrifugal separation into the lighter phase, plasma or serum, and the heavier cellular phase. The tube has a needle-pierceable stopper at the opposite end for maintaining a negative pressure in the tube. A blood phase partitioning device is disposed within the tube and includes upper and lower members with the upper member having a greater specific gravity greater than that of the lower member but together having a specific gravity between that of the lighter phase and that of the heavier phase. A sealant is disposed between the members and in contact with each member and has a specific gravity equal to the average of the two members.
