  • Patent number: 11916668
Abstract: Improvements to demodulators in receivers of radios used for train communications t to receive a radio frequency (RF) signal transmitting a packet of data. A demodulator is configured to generate a soft decision for a decoder, the soft decision including reliability information determined by calculating for the bit position a logarithmic likelihood ratio (LLR). The demodulator is configured to correct a bias in the LLR calculation for any one of the bit positions resulting from a difference in the number symbols in the set of all possible symbols that could have a 0 value in the bit position and the set of all possible symbols that could have a 1 in the bit position.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 8, 2021
Date of Patent: February 27, 2024

  • Patent number: 10505812
Abstract: Neighbor tier relationships between cells or base stations in a wireless network may be accurately determined by projecting a plurality of points representing the cells or base stations into three dimensional space along with a reference point, creating a plurality of polygons between the plurality of points including the reference point, and removing lines connected to the reference point. Each remaining line represents a first tier neighbor relationship between the two points it connects.

  • Patent number: 10285096
Abstract: A process for determining neighbor tier relationships between cells in a wireless telecommunications network includes establishing a plurality of cell points, each cell point representing a cell of a plurality of cells in the wireless telecommunications network, forming a plurality of triangles, the vertices of each triangle of the plurality of triangles corresponding to respective cell points of the plurality of cell points, removing edges from a portion of the plurality of triangles, determining neighbor tier relationships between the plurality of cells using remaining triangle edges between the plurality of cell points, storing the neighbor tier relationships in a first memory, and using the neighbor tier relationships for handovers between the plurality of cells.

  • Patent number: 10194324
Abstract: A method for performing Carrier Aggregation (CA) using spectrum shared between an incumbent user and a telecommunications network includes establishing a primary cell (PCell) for the secondary user in a portion of radio spectrum that is exclusively licensed to the telecommunications network, establishing a secondary cell (SCell) for the telecommunications network in a portion of the shared spectrum that is shared with the incumbent user, receiving schedule data for the incumbent user at a controller in communication with the incumbent user and a transmitter for the PCell and the SCell, scheduling transmissions for the PCell and the SCell to avoid interference to the incumbent user, and transmitting the scheduled transmissions through the PCell and the SCell using Carrier Aggregation (CA). Accordingly, one or more SCell in shared spectrum may be aggregated with a PCell in dedicated spectrum.

  • Publication number: 20170251414
Abstract: A process for compensating for cell coverage in a wireless telecommunications network includes identifying an inactive cell, determining candidate cells from a plurality of neighboring cells that neighbor a coverage area of the inactive cell, calculating a compensation metric for each of the candidate cells, each compensation metric being based on a received power level of a respective candidate cell at one or more point, comparing respective compensation metrics for each cell of the candidate cells to compensation metrics of the remaining candidate cells, selecting one or more replacement cell from the candidate cells based on a result of the comparison, and adjusting parameters of the one or more replacement cell to compensate for the inactive cell.
