  • Patent number: 6635322
Abstract: A thermally insulating cover structure adapted for covering a hot pipe comprises a heat insulation layer (2), a filler layer (3) and a jacket (6), which is provided with drain openings (5). The filler layer comprises a material that is permeable to water. The drain openings are shielded against entry of water, while they allow drainage of water from the filler layer into the environment. This cover structure is in particular suited for outdoor pipelines, where moist conditions may arise. The invention also provides a pipeline and a method of providing a pipeline with a thermally insulating cover structure.

  • Patent number: 6026863
Abstract: A self-drying insulation system for a pipe or a container (1) which has a temperature that is periodically lower than the dew point temperature of the ambient air includes an inner capillary-active slot between the surface of the pipe or container (1) and a surrounding heat insulating layer (3) in which one or more capillary-active openings (5) are provided, these openings connecting the inner side of the insulating layer (3) with its outer side, and a water-repellent membrane (6) surrounding the outer side of the insulating layer so as to form an outer slot (7) between the outer side of the insulating layer (3) and the membrane (6).

  • Patent number: 5441083
Abstract: An insulation system for a cold pipe or container includes an inner water-absorbing layer, an intermediate heat-insulating layer defining a slot therethrough, and an outer water-absorbing layer, the inner and outer layers being in contact through the slot.

  • Patent number: 4843774
Abstract: An underroof for a sloping exterior roof and comprising a moisture-absorbing layer which on both sides comprise spaced, substantially horizontal highly diffusion-resistant strips, the diffusion-resistant strips on the top side of the moisture-absorbing layer partly overlapping the diffusion-resistant strips on the underside and being water tightly connected along their upper edges with the diffusion-resistant strips on the underside. The underroof is impermeable to water flowing along the top surface thereof but has a sufficiently high resistance to diffusion to prevent summer condensation. Furthermore, it is capable of absorbing and discharging condensate formed on its underside.

  • Patent number: 4567080
Abstract: A vapor barrier comprises two vapor-tight layers (1,2) and a water absorbing layer (3) interposed therebetween. Openings (5,6) are provided in both vapor-tight layers (1,2). The openings in one layer (1) are arranged in displaced positions relatively to the openings (6) in the other layer (2). The vapor barrier offers a high resistance to the diffusion of water vapor through the vapor barrier from one side towards the other, and enables condensed water formed on the other side of the vapor barrier to travel in the opposite direction and to be evaporated from the first mentioned side.
