Patent number: 11733674Abstract: A method and a corresponding system and computer program are provided. A model of an object to be manufactured via subtractive manufacturing is obtained. Geometric features to be machined as part of manufacturing the object are identified based on the model. The identified geometric features include a composite geometric feature including a plurality of geometric subfeatures. A database including strategies for machining different geometric features is accessed. The database includes a composite strategy for machining the composite geometric feature and separate strategies for machining the respective geometric subfeatures. Strategies for machining the respective geometric features are selected from the strategies included in the database. Instructions for causing one or more machine tools to manufacture the object in accordance with the selected strategies are provided.Type: GrantFiled: June 13, 2019Date of Patent: August 22, 2023Assignee: Sandvik Machining Solutions ABInventors: Hugo Nordell, Vahid Kalhori, Mattias Vanberg

Patent number: 11144040Abstract: A computer program includes data defining tool paths for manufacturing a component. The component geometry is estimated based on the program. Deviation of a first type is estimated as deviation between the estimated geometry and geometry of the component as defined by a 3D model. Deviation of a second type is estimated, based on machining process characteristics indicated by sensor data captured during manufacturing of the component, as deviation between a tool path a machine is instructed via the program to provide and an actual tool path provided by the machine. Deviation of a third type is computed as deviation between geometry defined by the 3D model and measured geometry of the manufactured component. An error propagation model is updated based on the estimated and computed deviations for multiple components. The error propagation model approximates relations between deviations of the first and second type and deviations of the third type.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2017Date of Patent: October 12, 2021Assignee: SANDVIK INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ABInventors: Peter Eriksson, Vahid Kalhori, Martin Helgoson, Anders Ivarsson

Patent number: 11084139Abstract: A sensor module for a tool holder for a cutting tool, such that when the sensor module is arranged to the tool holder having a cutting tool connected thereto, an axial portion of the cutting tool is positionable in a predefined rest position with respect to the sensor module. The sensor module includes at least one position sensor, wherein, when the sensor module is arranged to the tool holder having a cutting tool connected thereto, the position sensor is located radially spaced from the axial portion of the cutting tool for measuring deflection of the cutting tool with respect to the rest position. The disclosure further relates to a tool holder, a cutting tool, a cutting assembly, and a method for measuring deflection of a cutting tool.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2016Date of Patent: August 10, 2021Assignee: Sandvik Intellectual Property ABInventors: Vahid Kalhori, Robin Karlsson

Patent number: 10871764Abstract: A method and a corresponding system and computer program product are provided. A model of an object to be manufactured is obtained. Information about one or more available machine tools and one or more available cutting tools is obtained. A geometric feature to be machined as part of manufacturing the object is identified. A database including strategies for machining different geometric features is accessed. The database includes a plurality of strategies defining different ways of machining the identified geometric feature. One or more strategies are selected from the plurality of strategies based on the obtained information. A computer simulation is performed for the one or more selected strategies, and user instructions responsive to the computer simulation are received. Instructions for causing one or more machine tools to manufacture the object via subtractive manufacturing are provided based on the user instructions and a strategy of the one or more selected strategies.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2018Date of Patent: December 22, 2020Assignee: Sandvik Machining Solutions ABInventors: Hugo Nordell, Vahid Kalhori
