  • Publication number: 20080310603
Abstract: A system and method for representing call content in a searchable database includes transcribing call content to text. The call content is projected to vector space, by creating a vector by indexing the call based on the content and determining a similarity of the call to an atomic-class dictionary. The call is classified in a relational database in accordance with the vector.
    Type: Application
    Filed: August 22, 2008
    Publication date: December 18, 2008
Inventors: Cheng Wu, Andrzej Sakrajda, Hong-Kwang Jeff Kuo, Vaibhava Goel, David Lubensky

  • Publication number: 20080281598
Abstract: A method (and system) of determining confusable list items and resolving this confusion in a spoken dialog system includes receiving user input, processing the user input and determining if a list of items needs to be played back to the user, retrieving the list to be played back to the user, identifying acoustic confusions between items on the list, changing the items on the list as necessary to remove the acoustic confusions, and playing unambiguous list items back to the user.

  • Publication number: 20080270135
Abstract: A method (and system) of handling out-of-grammar utterances includes building a statistical language model for a dialog state using, generating sentences and semantic interpretations for the sentences using finite state grammar, building a statistical action classifier, receiving user input, carrying out recognition with the finite state grammar, carrying out recognition with the statistical language model, using the statistical action classifier to find semantic interpretations, comparing an output from the finite state grammar and an output from the statistical language model, deciding which output of the output from the finite state grammar and the output from the statistical language model to keep as a final recognition output, selecting the final recognition output, and outputting the final recognition result, wherein the statistical action classifier, the finite state grammar and the statistical language model are used in conjunction to carry out speech recognition and interpretation.

  • Publication number: 20080235015
Abstract: A system and method for speech recognition includes determining active Gaussians related to a first feature stream and a second feature stream by labeling at least one of the first and second streams, and determining active Gaussians co-occurring in the first stream and the second stream based upon joint probability. A number of Gaussians computed is reduced based upon Gaussians already computed for the first stream and a number of Gaussians co-occurring in the second stream. Speech is decoded based on the Gaussians computed for the first and second streams.

  • Publication number: 20080228486
Abstract: A method (and system) for spoken dialog confirmation classifies a plurality of spoken dialog hypotheses, and assigns a threshold to each class of spoken dialog hypotheses.

  • Publication number: 20080215618
Abstract: A method includes applying at least one tag to at least one data element stored in a database the tag having at least one associated rule, utilizing the at least one associated rule to generate at least one variant of the data element, and storing the at least one variant in the database.

  • Publication number: 20060195321
Abstract: A natural language business system and method is developed to understand the underlying meaning of a person's speech, such as during a transaction with the business system. The system includes a speech recognition engine, and action classification engine, and a control module. The control module causes the system to execute an inventive method wherein the speech recognition and action classification models may be recursively optimized on an unisolated performance metric that is pertinent to the overall performance of the natural language business system, as opposed to the isolated model-specific criteria previously employed.
