  • Patent number: 6193642
Abstract: An improved centrifugation bucket providing two axes of rotation for a pair of multi-well plates. The centrifugation bucket is adapted to be used with a centrifuge in order to effect material transfer between a pair of microwell plates. The centrifugation bucket comprises a yoke adapted to be attached to a rotor arm of a centrifuge, and a platform attached to the yoke. The yoke is adapted to be attached to the centrifuge by a hinge or hinges providing a primary axis of rotation and the platform is attached to the yoke by hinges or other connectors providing a secondary axis of rotation. Multi-well plates may be secured to the platform to allow transfer of materials between the plates. The primary axis of rotation is parallel to the direction of travel of the centrifugation bucket during centrifugation and the secondary axis of rotation is perpendicular to the direction of travel of the centrifugation bucket during centrifugation.

  • Patent number: 5472353
Abstract: A mounting and fastening device for electronic printed circuit boards (PCBs) in a rack of an electronic enclosure. In particular, the assembly uses an elongated clamping assembly with or without a torque limiting clutching device that may form part of the torque tightening component of the device. The fastening assembly expands transversely to fasten the PCB and maintains a proper thermal conductive path between enclosure and PCB. The expandable clamping feature of the invention has several embodiments.

  • Patent number: 5414594
Abstract: A self-adjusting insertion/extraction apparatus is disclosed for inserting and extracting a printed circuit (PC) board into and from an electrical connector mounted at the base of a PC board rack, the apparatus being configured to function effectively regardless of limited variations in the height of the PC board. The apparatus includes a lever and a pawl pivotally secured to the PC board, at an edge of the board opposite the connector. A spring resiliently couples the lever to the pawl such that pivoting the lever from a raised position to a lowered position yieldably biases the pawl into engagement with the PC board rack, to insert the board into the rack connector. Further, raising the lever from its lowered position to its raised position moves a portion of the lever into engagement with the rack, to extract the board from the connector. Limited variations in the height of the board are accommodated by corresponding flexing of the spring.
