Abstract: In the manufacture of non-woven fabrics waste material is avoided by determining the distribution of the weight per square unit of both border zones of a non-woven and by folding thereafter a part of the thinner border zone toward the inner part so that the resulting non-woven has a uniform distribution of weight per square unit. Especially in the case of non-woven fabrics made from slightly extensile material or having border zones which shall not be stretched, the web is guided at an angle about in the middle of the folding zone, the angle being inclined towards that level towards which the border zone is folded; non-woven fabrics with very uniform distribution of weight per square unit are thereby obtainable.

Abstract: For the manufacture of non-wovens, filaments are laid down on a moving surface. The filaments are deflected by means of a rotating deflector and a subsequent guide plate connected thereto. It is important that the rotating deflector deflects the filaments from the rotational axis and that the guide plate rotating synchronously with the deflector leads back at least part of the filaments in the direction of the intersection of the rotational axis and the deposition surface, this leading back being carried out advantageously to a different extent for different portions of the filament veil. This leading back being at least partial results in a considerably more uniform area weight distribution than hitherto obtained.

Abstract: Non woven webs are produced from filaments by laying down the said filaments in the form of cone sections on a moving surface with simultaneous spreading out to a filament veil with the use of rotating deflectors coming into contact with the filaments on one side only. The deflecting area of the deflectors has a plane shape. The filaments used are drawn, partially drawn or undrawn. A non woven web with particularly good properties is obtained when the axis of the bundle of filaments and the deflecting surface of the deflector form an angle of from 10.degree. to 80.degree.. To produce the web a simple and reliable device is used.
