  • Publication number: 20040094929
Abstract: The invention relates to a vehicle for carrying persons and/or cargo. This vehicle comprises an automotive frame having at least two wheels (2), which are disposed on opposite sides of the vehicle with reference to the longitudinal axis, or substanntially aligned along the longitudinal axis of the vehicle, and are provided with elastic suspensions, which are driven by any type of kinematic system, composed by at least one elastic element (103, 105) of any type. The vehicle is characterized in that the suspensions of the individual wheels are connected with each other by means of any mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical or magnetic system or any combination thereof, at least one elastic element (105) acting thereon, and in that the reaction to the stress exerted by one of the connected wheels transfers, at least partly, a stress on the corresponding connected wheel/s and in that elastic opposing elements (103) are provided on each wheel.

  • Patent number: 4671525
Abstract: Elastic suspension for the rear wheels of motor vehicles, particularly of motorcycles, comprising two upwardly conveying suspension arms (3,4) which by their upper ends are pivotally connected at two different pivot points (103,104) to the vehicle frame (1), and by their lower ends are pivotally connected at two different pivot points (203,204) to a wheel-carrying member (5), whereby an articulated quadrilateral is formed, which lies in a plane parallel to the rear wheel plane, or to the longitudinal vertical median plane of the vehicle. The rear wheel-carrying member (5) has a rearward extension (105) extending outwardly of the articulated quadrilateral, and the rear wheel (2) is mounted onto this rearward extension (105).

  • Patent number: 4574909
Abstract: In an elastic suspension system provided with a shock absorber (6, 106) for the rear wheel (5) of a motorcycle, the shock absorber (6, 106) is pivotally connected by its lower end to a shock absorber-supporting bell crank (11) fulcrumed about the rear wheel fork (3). A guide arm is articulatedly connected by one end to the shock absorber-supporting bell crank (11), and by its other end to the motorcycle frame (1), at a point (15) higher than the pivot point (2) for the fork (3), and in such a manner as to obtain an articulated quadrilateral (2, 15, 13, 12) with no intersecting sides. This arrangement increases the excursion of the shock absorber (6, 106) and makes it possible to provide only one shock absorber (6, 106), arranged in the same vertical plane as the rear wheel (5).

  • Patent number: 4410196
Abstract: Suspension system for a motorcycle wheel, comprising two upright swinging arms disposed in a plane parallel to the plane of the wheel pivoted at their upper ends to a supporting structure of the vehicle and at their lower ends to a wheel-carrying element which, through a prolongation, extends beyond the two pivotal connections between the two swinging arms and the wheel-carrying element. The wheel is mounted on the prolongation, and the wheel axle is located on, or slightly above or below, an ideal straight line passing through the pivotal connections of the two swinging arms to the wheel-carrying element.

  • Patent number: 4379567
Abstract: A front suspension system for a motorcycle wheel, comprising a downwardly and forwardly inclined suspension structure mounted on the steering column, two swinging arms both disposed substantially parallel to the plane of the motorcycle wheel and pivoted at one end to the suspension structure and at the other end to a wheel-carrying element, so that the suspension structure, the two swinging arms and the wheel-carrying element form an articulated quadrilateral, a shock absorber acting on the articulated quadrilateral to oppose relative movement between the suspension structure and the wheel-carrying element, due to a load applied to the motorcycle.

  • Patent number: 4212481
Abstract: The invention relates to a suspension system for a vehicle road wheel and to vehicles equipped with the suspension system. In particular, the invention provides a road wheel suspension system comprising two arms mounted for oscillatory motion on respective fulcra on a support structure formed by the vehicle chassis or some part of the vehicle body, the two arms being pivoted at their other ends to spaced positions on a wheel-carrying element so that there is provided an articulated quadrilateral, and according to the invention, the wheel-carrying element has an extension beyond the part of that element which extends between the spaced pivots of the two arms, there being the road wheel mounting on this extension of the wheel-carrying element.
