Abstract: A humbucker pickup device for active and passive guitars includes two magnets positioned beside each other, with opposite poles of the magnets facing each other. A first set of pole pieces are positioned along an outer pole of the first magnet and a second set of pole pieces are positioned along an outer pole of the second magnet. The magnets, the first set and the second set create two narrow and useful magnetic fields beneath each string to interact with it at two points. The device includes two conventional coils which are matched pair. The device includes a steel plate between the magnets for improving the interaction of the magnetic fields with the string and a preamplifier working in a balanced input mode. The first and second magnets with the two sets of pole pieces create a third wide magnetic field between the sets of pole pieces in such a way that the third magnetic field is displaced down to the magnets so that it is localized mainly beneath strings of guitars outside their vibrations.
