  • Patent number: 10603738
Abstract: An arc welder cable includes a resiliently flexible hose, an intermediate sheath, a plurality of conductors, and an outer sheath. The hose defines an axial passageway configured to permit passage of a welding wire and a shielding gas therethrough. The intermediate sheath circumscribes the hose such that the hose is disposed radially within the intermediate sheath. The intermediate sheath is made from an electrically-insulative material and is in sealing contact with an outer surface of the hose. The conductors are disposed circumferentially about the intermediate sheath and disposed radially outward of the intermediate sheath. The conductors extend along the intermediate sheath in a helical manner. The conductors are made from an electrically-conductive material. The outer sheath is made from an electrically-insulative material and circumscribes the conductors such that the conductors, the intermediate sheath, and the hose are disposed radially within the outer sheath.

  • Patent number: 5384447
Abstract: An apparatus for welding a workpiece comprises a body tube having a tapered portion defining a first angle, and an end fitting releasably connectable with the body tube and having a tapered portion defining a second angle. The tapered portion of the body tube is releasably connectable with the tapered portion of the end fitting. The first angle differs from the second angle by a distance sufficient for facilitating manual separation of the tapered portion of the body tube from the tapered portion of the end fitting. A liner has a first portion disposed within the end fitting and a second portion disposed within the body tube. A connection member operatively releasably connects the first portion of the liner with the second portion of the liner. A member is disposed on the body tube or the end fitting for releasably connecting the body tube to the end fitting. A positive stop member is formed the body tube or the end fitting for positively retaining the member on the body tube or the end fitting.

  • Patent number: 5366392
Abstract: An electrical cable connector for releasably electrically connecting ends of an electrical cable comprises a female element coupled to one end of the electrical cable, and a male element coupled to another end of the electrical cable. The male element is releasably connectable with the female element. A locking groove is disposed on one of the female element and the male element. A screw is removably disposed on another one of the female element and the male element. A cam surface is located on the screw and is engagable with the locking groove such that the cam surface cams along the locking groove responsive to rotation of the female element relative to the male element to releasably connect the female element with the male element thereby electrically connecting the ends of the electrical cable. A slot is operatively associated with the locking groove.

  • Patent number: 4554432
Abstract: A gas metal arc welding gun includes a power cable in which the power conductors are asymmetrically distributed in a crescent between a gas conduit and a sheath in order to improve flexibility of the power cable. The welding gun includes a head assembly which includes a head that defines an internal annular ridge between a contact tip and a free end of an electrode liner. This annular ridge serves as a stop for the contact tip, as a centering guide for the electrode liner, and as a shield to protect the electrode from welding spatter. The welding gun includes a two-piece handle which includes a tongue and aperture guide at one end, and an interlocking flange guide at the other end. The two guides restrict movement between the two housing parts to axial movement, and a snap ring locks the two housing parts in a desired assembled position.
