  • Patent number: 7160279
Abstract: A tampon pledget that expands without the aid of moisture or menses. The tampon pledget has a plurality of high resiliency, non-absorbent materials and a plurality of absorbent materials. The tampon pledget has improved comfort as compared to conventional fully compressed tampon pledgets. The tampon pledget preferably has all of its non-absorbent and absorbent materials enclosed in a coverstock. The coverstock may be inverted or turned inside out, prior to filling the coverstock with the plurality of non-absorbent and absorbent materials. The coverstock insertion end, removal end, or both are pleated to further enhance comfort during use. A removal string may be secured to the inverted and pleated coverstock, above the removal end seal, by a top loop slipknot.

  • Publication number: 20030105421
Abstract: A tampon applicator is provided having a barrel and/or a plunger molded from a pulp-based material. The barrel can be molded such that it includes a molded fingergrip area having a textured surface, at least one gripping structure, or any combination thereof. Petals may be molded on the pledget ejection end of the barrel. In addition, the exterior surface of the barrel is molded such that it is textured, smooth, or any combinations thereof. The molded tampon applicator exhibits superior flushability and compostability characteristics, without compromising the strength of the barrel or plunger.

  • Patent number: 5956117
Abstract: An eyeglass assembly that supports lenses over the eyes without the use of a nose bridge or any other structure that rests upon the nose. The assembly includes a temple element having a first end and a second end that extends around the back of the head. A first lens frame element or lens is coupled to the first end of the temple element. Similarly, a second lens frame element or lens is coupled to the second end of the temple element. As a result, the temple element supports the first lens frame element or lens and the second lens frame element or lens a predetermined distance apart over the eyes. No structure extends across the gap over the nose. The temple element is biased against the sides of the head to help retain the assembly in place.
