  • Publication number: 20100188024
Abstract: In a calibration of a lighting system with at least one light source and a light source driver, and a light source driver controller controlling the light source driver, separate components are calibrated separately before combining them. For this purpose, the light source is coupled with a light source memory, the light source is calibrated by determining a light source operational relationship between a light source input parameter and a light source output parameter, and light source control data representative of the light source operational relationship are stored in the light source memory. The light source driver is coupled with a light source driver memory, the light source driver is calibrated by determining a light source driver operational relationship between a light source driver input parameter and a light source driver output parameter, and light source driver control data representative of the light source driver operational relationship are stored in the light source driver memory.

  • Publication number: 20100048980
Abstract: The invention relates to a massage device (1). The massage device (1) comprises a first support (32), a second support (30) and a deformable connector (36). The first support (32) has a massage face (34). The second support (30) has a protrusion (31) for accommodating an electrical coil (8). During use of the massage device (1), electrical coil 8 conducts an electrical current. First support (32) is provided with an electromagnetic system (15) comprising permanent magnets (14, 24) or one or more electrical coils, magnetically conductible bodies or a combination thereof. First support (32) is connected to second support (30) by a deformable connector (36). As a result of electro-magnetic interaction a force indicated by an arrow (56) is exerted on protrusion (31). The first support (32) may be displaced relative to the second support (30).

  • Publication number: 20060188967
Abstract: A method for the indirect extraction of DNA greater than 300 kb in size from non-cultivatable organisms contained in an environmental sample is disclosed. The method comprises isolating the organisms from the sample and embedding the isolated organisms in a block of agarose where the organisms are subsequently lysed and the DNA subjected to a first alternating field electrophoresis to extract DNA fragments which are large in size and separate them from the cell debris. The first electrophoretic migration is followed by an enzymatic restriction step and additional electrophoretic migrations. The invention also encompasses DNA obtained by the method.

  • Publication number: 20050055333
Abstract: Various embodiments of the invention are directed to closely integrating functionality between an internet server and a WebDAV tool. Areas of specific focus in this document include delegation of duties between the internet server and the WebDAV tool, efficient management of a resource's content-type, support for segregation of a namespace into separate virtual roots, and determinations of whether to invoke certain processing extensions to handle requests for a given HTTP verb.

  • Patent number: 6735848
Abstract: Method of manufacture a wide bore, high field superconducting magnet. The superconducting magnet has a plurality of superconducting coils impregnated with epoxy and nested within each other. An innermost one of the nested coils has a bore therethrough that defines a bore width of the magnet. The bore width is greater than approximately 100 millimeters. The nested coils are electrically connected in series and cooled to an operating temperature less than approximately 4 degrees K. The magnet also has external reinforcements on the coils that are applied prior to impregnating the coils with epoxy. An active protection circuit protects the coils in response to a quench in the magnet. The protection circuit includes heater elements positioned in thermal contact with the coils prior to impregnating the coils with epoxy. The magnet further has lead supports for supporting the lead wires with epoxy that extend from the coils.

  • Publication number: 20030190645
Abstract: The present invention discloses methods for identifying and analysing microsatellite-associated polymorphisms between different DNA samples. Different DNA samples, e.g. from different individuals, are analysed using a PCR based on the combination of a RAMP-primer and an AFLP-primer and polymorphisms between the different DNA samples are identified. The polymorphisms thus identified may be isolated and further analysed by e.g. DNA sequence analysis both upstream and downstream from the microsatellite-associated polymorphism. These sequences may subsequently be used to devise and synthesise new means for analysis of the polymorphic locus, such as e.g. PCR-primer pairs or oligonucleotide probes.

  • Publication number: 20020109876
Abstract: An optical network has an optical splitter connected to (1) a working optical subscriber unit (OSU) of a working circuit via a working optical fiber, (2) a protection OSU of a protection circuit via a protection optical fiber, and (3) one or more optical network terminals (ONTs). The present invention enables fast protection switching from the working OSU to the protection OSU. In one embodiment, the arrival times of corresponding upstream ranging reply PLOAM cells are measured at both the working and protection OSUs during ranging operations of the working OSU. In another embodiment, a cell delineation procedure is initiated at the protection OSU during normal, non-ranging operations of the working OSU to enable the protection OSU to correctly delineate upstream cells and the arrival times of corresponding upstream cells are then measured at both the working and protection OSUs.

  • Patent number: 6431765
Abstract: A repeater, useable for connecting switches in a data communication network, is provided in a distributed and/or modular fashion. The repeater includes a plurality of separate and distinct components or modules connected to or at least partially housed in, the various switches which the repeater modules couple. The distributed and/or modular repeater facilitates accommodating various switching or repeater needs as a network grows or contracts. A light pipe, preferably integral with a module case, conveys indicator lights to a position visible when viewing a switch front panel. A heat spreader unit receives and/or conveys heat and/or protects against undue EMI. A collision-handling state machine transmits modified collision fragments so as to avoid reduction in interpacket gaps, e.g. by downstream repeater modules.
