  • Patent number: 6579911
Abstract: Extruded, substantially closed-polystyrene foams that exhibit improved fire resistance yet contain lower levels of brominated fire retardant are disclosed. Methods of preparing the foams, comprising extruding the polystyrene with a novel fire retardant formulation comprising a mixture of a) a phosphate compound, preferably TPP; b) less than about 2.5 percent HBCD based on 100 percent polystyrene; and optionally c) a flow promoter such as dimethyldiphenylbutane, the extrusion process using a blowing agent which is preferably selected from carbon dioxide, mixtures of two or more of carbon dioxide, water, alcohol, ether and hydrocarbons, or a mixture of hydrofluorocarbons, alcohols, and hydrocarbons, are also disclosed. Use of the phosphate compound in the fire retardant formulation allows a reduction in the amount of brominated compound required and a reduction in the foaming temperature, resulting in lower density foams.

  • Publication number: 20030023204
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for removing emboli during an angioplasty, stenting or surgical procedure comprising a catheter having a funnel-shaped occlusion balloon of uniform thickness disposed on a distal end of the catheter. The occlusion balloon is fused to the distal end so that it provides a substantially seamless flow transition into a working lumen of the catheter. Additionally, a distal edge of the occlusion balloon is configured to be in close proximity with an inner wall of a vessel to facilitate blood flow into the catheter and efficiently remove emboli.

  • Patent number: 6421839
Abstract: Pants which include at least one pant leg and a pocket in the area of the knee. Within each pocket is to be located a cushioning pad. The cushioning pad is to be inserted through an access opening which has a length smaller than the width of the knee pocket which tends to prevent accidental dislodgment of the pad from the knee pocket. A securement device is to be connectable between the pad and the pant leg of the work pant. The knee pocket may be covered by a covering sheet to hopefully prevent the forming of wear holes within the knee area of the work pant.

  • Publication number: 20020072164
Abstract: In one embodiment of the present invention, an integral lid assembly (10) for sealing a substrate processing chamber includes first (16) and third (12) plates fixedly fused to a second plate (14) positioned therebetween. The first and second plates define a coolant passage (110) or channel therein, and the second and third plates define a gas delivery channel(s) (146, 148) therein. The first plate has a substantially planar surface for coupling to a processing chamber, and the third plate has a substantially planar surface for coupling to a microwave generation device or a remote plasma clean device (106). In this manner, the lid assembly is compact in size, and facilitates the mounting of a microwave device closer to the chamber than for bulkier lid assemblies. In another embodiment, gas passages (232) through the brazed lid assembly (200) are coupled to the processing chamber (310), and are configured to provide the desired gas distribution thereto for exemplary processes.

  • Publication number: 20020020714
Abstract: A system, apparatus and method is disclosed for providing a consistent liquid mixture according to a predetermined recipe for use at a point of use. The apparatus includes a plurality of liquid component reservoirs in which a constant gas pressure is maintained. A plurality of valves are provided, with individual valves connected to an outlet port of each reservoir. An electronic controller controls the valve actuation in a repetitive sequence to discharge predetermined doses of selected liquid components for mixing to form the consistent liquid mixture. A mixing section receives the sequence of doses to mix them together to form the liquid mixture.

  • Patent number: 6310112
Abstract: This invention provides a thermoplastic polymer foam having a density of up to 800 kg/m3. The foam is made from a hydrogenated vinyl aromatic polymer that contains pendant cycloaliphatic groups. This polymer is conveniently made by hydrogenating a poly(vinyl aromatic) polymer such as polystyrene or a polystyrene-butadiene block copolymer. A suitable blowing agent is a mixture comprising (a) one or more fluorine-containing carbon compounds and (b) carbon dioxide, nitrogen, an alcohol having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a linear or cyclic hydrocarbon having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a ketone, an alkyl ether, an alkyl halide, water or a mixture thereof.

  • Patent number: 6157939
Abstract: An multiplier circuit that generates a negate product -B*C quickly without requiring a separate negate operation. This multiplier circuit uses partial product multiplication and any of a variety of multiplication techniques, such as bit-pair recoding or the Booth algorithm, to perform multiplication and negate multiplication operations. The multiplier circuit uses an encoder circuit to produce encoded multiplier strings in accordance with such multiplication techniques. The multiplier circuit reorders bits of such encoded multiplier strings to cause a binary multiplier circuit to generate the negate product -B*C rather than the product B*C. The reordering can be accomplished in any manner, such as by a bus coupling the encoder circuit to the binary multiplier circuit. The encoder circuit can be coupled to the binary multiplier circuit using two buses and a multiplexor circuit.

  • Patent number: 5970072
Abstract: A data bus controller is provided. The data bus controller comprises an ingress interface that receives single data streams of encoded data. A multiplexer is connected to the ingress interface and combines the single data streams into a broadcast data stream of encoded data. An egress interface connected to the multiplexer transmits the broadcast data stream. An arbiter is connected to the multiplexer. The arbiter generates control data for controlling the multiplexing of the single data streams and transmits control data to the multiplexer.

  • Patent number: 5244927
Abstract: Low density styrene polymer foams having highly desirable physical properties are prepared employing as a blowing agent a mixture of carbon dioxide, lower alcohol and water. The cell size can be effectively controlled by controlling the amount of water in the blowing agent mixture, i.e., small cell or large cell foams can be prepared. A process for preparing such foams is also disclosed.
