  • Patent number: 9333319
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an illumination device arranged for reducing sleep inertia and/or for controlling alertness of a human being. The illumination device is arranged for reducing sleep inertia and/or controlling alertness by light radiation. The illumination device comprises one or more light sources for generating a first illumination output and a second illumination output. The first illumination output comprises light with a dominant wavelength in the range of 590-770 nm. The second illumination output comprises light with a dominant wavelength in the range of 400-560 nm. Thus, colored light is used. Alternatively, the first illumination output comprises white light with a color temperature below 4100 K, i.e. warm white light. The second color temperature then comprises white light with a color temperature above 4900 K.

  • Patent number: 9298169
Abstract: A wake-up appliance (100; 200; 300) comprises: an alarm device (20) generating an alarm signal; a control device (10) controlling the alarm device; at least one controllable light-generating device (1000; 2000; 3000) controlled by the control device. When the control device finds that an actual time becomes equal to a predetermined alarm time, it activates the alarm device. When the control device receives a user input signal at a snooze input, it stops the alarm signal and increases the intensity of at least a portion of the light generated in a blue range of the light spectrum.

  • Patent number: 9107251
Abstract: A wake-up lamp system (100; 1000) comprises: a light source (130) having a nominal light output intensity (Lmax); and a control device (110) for controlling the light source, the control device receiving a clock signal from a clock device (120). The control device, when operating in a wake-up mode, controls the light source such that its light output intensity is gradually increased from a minimum intensity value (Lmin) to a maximum intensity value (Lmu) and such that the color point of the light output is gradually changed to travel a predefined chromaticity path, with the position of the color point on said chromaticity path being set as a function of the light output intensity. Said chromaticity path has a starting point having a color temperature between 400K and 1500K associated with the minimum intensity and an end point having a color temperature higher than 2700K associated with the nominal intensity.

  • Patent number: 8427311
Abstract: The invention provides a lighting device (1) comprising one or more light sources (10) arranged to generate light, an accommodating device (5) having an external boundary (2) which is at least partly translucent and is arranged to accommodate the one or more light sources and a controller (40). The lighting device can generate two types of light. One or more lighting parameters selected from the group consisting of the first luminous intensity of the first type of light, the second luminous intensity of the second type of light, the color point of the first type of light and the color point of the second type of light can be controlled. This allows task lighting and atmosphere lighting. The invention is also directed to a method of providing a wake-up stimulus by means of such a lighting device.
