  • Publication number: 20240406746
Abstract: A communication network comprising a plurality of CBSDs (Citizen Broadband Radio System Devices) and a Frequency Allocation System is disclosed. In some embodiments, the Frequency Allocation System includes a SON (self-organizing network). A SON, in accordance with the disclosed method and apparatus, organizes a network to have an outer and inner ring configuration of CBSDs that enhances strategic planning for the spectrum being allocated for use by the network. The use of this configuration may significantly minimize co-channel interference between several frequency bands, such as DoD (Department of Defense) frequency bands 3.1 to 3.4 GHz; CBRS frequency bands 3.55 to 3.7 GHz; and WiFi frequency bands 5 GHz and 6 GHz.

  • Publication number: 20240015778
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for determining channel quality in a Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) network and utilizing the channel quality information to improve network performance. Citizens Broadband Radio Service Devices (CBSDs) deployed in the Enterprise Network (EN), and User Equipment (UEs) connected to the EN are controlled to silently listen to the network without disruption of communications. The resulting data is collected by the EN and can be passed to the neighboring enterprise or SAS for channel allocation and power control assistance.

  • Publication number: 20230397176
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for resource allocation in a fixed wireless network are described. The resources are allocated to a BTS-CBSD based on the following input information: (1) the conditions of a Wi-Fi connection between the BTS-CBSD and each of a plurality of CPE-CBSDs; (2) the number of users being serviced by each CPE-CBSD; (3) the contention for the Wi-Fi channels at each CPE-CBSD; (4) the total amount of spectrum available to be allocated to the BTS-CBSD by the SAS/SON; (5) the achieved downlink (DL) throughput between the BTS-CBSD and the CPE-CBSD; (6) the achieved uplink (UL) throughput between the BTS-CBSD and the CPE-CBSD; and (7) the achieved latency between the BTS-CBSD and the CPE-CBSD. By using these metrics, the throughput of the Wi-Fi connection between the plurality of CPE-CBSDs and the UEs can be effectively matched to the amount of resources allocated to each CPE-CBSD and to the total amount of resources allocated to the BTS-CBSD.
