Publication number: 20180110579Abstract: An integrated tray and wrap system for supplying components used in medical procedures is provided and a method of manufacturing the tray while filling and sealing in one continuous process. The trays can be formed on a process line, such as by a thermo-form-fill-seal technique, and once the cavity of the tray is formed, the desired medical components can be loaded into the tray cavity as the formed trays are advanced down the process line. After the components are loaded, a pre-folded drape or non-woven sheet can be affixed to an inner ledge of the tray along an inner fenestration of the drape or sheet, thus attaching the drape or sheet to the tray. Once the drape has been attached, the tray continues to advance along the process line to receive a cover film that can be heat-sealed to the outer rim of the tray.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 25, 2017Publication date: April 26, 2018Applicant: Allegiance CorporationInventors: VARSHA KALYANKAR, ANDREW M ROLSMA, ELIEZER APONTE, NICHOLAS GUS FOTIS, DANNY W PENNY

Patent number: 8695256Abstract: A recipient verification system including a band having a base, a strap, and a closure device. The base defines a band identification portion for displaying a recipient identifier. The strap extends from the base, and the closure device is attached to the base opposite the strap. First and second slots are formed through the band. In a primary worn state, the strap is looped about a recipient's appendage and secured to the base via the closure device independent of the slots. In a replacement worn state, the base is severed from a majority of the strap and is secured to the recipient's appendage by a secondary band assembled through the slots.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2013Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Assignee: Typenex Medical, LLCInventors: Kelly M. Landsman, Varsha Kalyankar, Luke A. Westra

Patent number: 8053048Abstract: A polymer blend comprising a high density polyethylene and a surface enhancing polymer is provided. The surface enhancing polymer may be an elastomer such as an ethylene propylene diene monomer terpolymer. The polymer blend may be fabricated into articles such as a film or a flexible overpouch for storing, and transporting medical components. Overpouch films made from the blend advantageously do not wrinkle or deform medical components contained therein when the overpouch—medical component combination is autoclaved.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2005Date of Patent: November 8, 2011Assignees: Baxter International Inc., Baxter Healthcare SAInventors: Michael T. K. Lang, Angeles Lillian Buan, Teresa L. White, Varsha Kalyankar, Gregg Nebgen, Scott Edwards, Kuo Zong Hong
