  • Patent number: 11911215
Abstract: For intraluminal ultrasound probes, the transducer is divided into multiple segments. The segments are connected in a way that allows them to slide relative to each other. This sliding arrangement allows for the transducer to be used in two different apertures at different times while in the patient. One aperture is shaped for insertion of the probe through a limited space, and the other aperture forms an array with a larger elevation extent, allowing greater quality imaging along the elevation dimension.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 27, 2024
Assignee: Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc.
Inventors: Vasant Salgaonkar, Lex J. Garbini, William R. Dreschel
  • Publication number: 20230301624
Abstract: A framework for image-based probe positioning is disclosed herein. The framework receives a current image from a probe. The current image is acquired by the probe within a structure of interest. The framework predicts a position of the probe and generates a recommendation of a next maneuver to be performed using the probe by applying the current image to a trained classifier. The framework then outputs the predicted position and the recommendation of the next maneuver.
