Publication number: 20250093165Abstract: A technique automatically identifies and resolves prohibited maneuvers in candidate routes generated by a routing system. Examples of prohibited maneuvers include traveling over a non-navigable path, traveling in an incorrect direction over a roadway, and an improper turn. The technique determines whether the candidate routes contain prohibited maneuvers by comparing the candidate routes with plural types of route-related validation data in plural respective validation processes. For example, a first validation process compares the candidate routes with a collection of GPS traces. A second validation process compares the candidate routes with map reference data. The technique further includes provisions for correcting the causes of identified prohibited maneuvers. Overall, the technique reduces the amount of manual effort involved in verifying the accuracy of routes produced by the routing system, and improves the accuracy, reliability, and safety of the routing system.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2023Publication date: March 20, 2025Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Antonios KARATZOGLOU, Tijana BEKIC, Vashutosh AGRAWAL, Mohit KHANNA, Varun KAKKAR, Michael Robert EVANS, Jacob Nicholas WHITBECK, Dragomir Dimitrov YANKOV, Nikola PERIN, Nikola TODIC, Goran PREDOVIC, Aleksandar SAMARDZIJA

Patent number: 11178082Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for a smart communications assistant with an audio interface. One method includes an operation for getting messages addressed to a user. The messages are from one or more message sources and each message comprising message data that includes text. The method further includes operations for analyzing the message data to determine a meaning of each message, for generating a score for each message based on the respective message data and the meaning of the message, and for generating a textual summary for the messages based on the message scores and the meaning of the messages. A speech summary is created based on the textual summary and the speech summary is then sent to a speaker associated with the user. The audio interface further allows the user to verbally request actions for the messages.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2019Date of Patent: November 16, 2021Assignee: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Nikrouz Ghotbi, August Niehaus, Sachin Venugopalan, Aleksandar Antonijevic, Tvrtko Tadic, Vashutosh Agrawal, Lisa Stifelman

Publication number: 20200226216Abstract: This document relates to compression of information into a human-readable format, such as a sentence or phrase. Generally, the disclosed techniques can extract values, such as purposes and topics, from information items and generate compressed representations of the information items that include the extracted values. In some cases, machine learning models can be employed to extract the values, and also to rank the values for inclusion in the compressed representations.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 10, 2019Publication date: July 16, 2020Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Marius A. Publication number: 20120023081Abstract: Methods and systems for utilizing images of interest to a user, so far as they relate to recent, current or upcoming events, to generate custom search engine home pages are provided. Upon receiving a request from the user to view the search engine home page, it is determined whether any indicators of the user's interests are available. If one or more interest indicators is available, the indicator(s) are compared to interest indicators (or categories of indicators) associated with recent, current and/or upcoming events to determine if there is a common interest indicator/category there between. Upon determining that there is a common interest indicator/category between one or more events and the user, a custom image is selected for presentation in association with the search engine home page based upon the common interest indicator/category. The search engine home page with the custom-selected image is then presented to the user.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 26, 2010Publication date: January 26, 2012Applicant: MICROSOFT CORPORATIONInventors: Mahesh Kumar Nayak, Vashutosh Agrawal
