  • Patent number: 11663524
Abstract: The disclosed systems and methods are directed to a computer-implemented method for use in designing a service. In at least one embodiment, a method includes designing a service with one or more generic virtual network functions (VNFs), where the generic VNFs are defined independent of vendor sourcing information. One or more trained machine learning (ML) models are used to identify VNFs available from VNF vendors that may source one or more VNFs similar to the generic VNFs. The service is implemented using VNFs provided by one or more VNF vendors, where the VNFs provided by the one or more VNF vendors have network functionality generating similar to the one or generic VNFs.

  • Patent number: 9154463
Abstract: The present invention facilitates automatic discovery of VPN-related information, which relates to the existence or association of VPNs as supported by provider edge devices in a core network. In particular, the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is used to facilitate the automatic discovery, and the provider edge devices are capable of subsequently and automatically triggering Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) processes to facilitate signaling over LDP sessions within the core network.

  • Patent number: 7480306
Abstract: In one aspect a system and method for providing communication between Ethernet and frame relay routers includes generating a unique media access control (MAC) address for a frame relay router in communication with an Ethernet router, associating the MAC address with the frame relay router, and storing the MAC address in an interworking function device (IWF). The method also includes receiving at the IWF device an address resolution protocol (ARP) request from the Ethernet router and sending from the IWF device to the Ethernet router a response to the ARP request based on the stored MAC addresses.

    Inventors: Paul Unbehagen, Vasile Radoaca
  • Patent number: 7152115
Abstract: A network can be organized for providing virtual private network services to customers into two regions. A network core for providing layer 2 transport and an associated number of logical provider edges. Each logical provider edge is partitioned into first and second portions. The first portion provides virtual private network services to customers. The second portion works with the core network to communicate with any other logical provider edge within the network. The first portion designated as the PE-Edge includes a group of functions such as a function for configuring optical Ethernet layer 2 virtual private network service, a function for service labeling, a function for ingress traffic management, and a function for information exchange between local VPN and core VPN.
