  • Patent number: 9438439
Abstract: In general, in one aspect, embodiments relate to a non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor, perform a method. The method includes receiving, by a controller, a first plurality of multicast advertisement packets from a first networking device on an external network, wherein the plurality of multicast advertisement packets are received at a first frequency, storing, by the controller, one of the first plurality of multicast advertisement packets in an advertisement packet repository, and transmitting, by the controller, information in the one of the plurality of advertisement packets on an internal network at a second frequency, wherein the second frequency is less frequent than the first frequency.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 30, 2013
Date of Patent: September 6, 2016
    Assignee: Aruba Networks, Inc.
Inventors: Harsha Nagaraja, Shishir Verma, Sridhar Chandrashekhar, Vedamurthy Joshi

  • Patent number: 8959201
Abstract: Control traffic in a virtual LAN (VLAN) may be reduced. In one implementation, a network device may implement one of a plurality of redundant gateway devices in a virtual router that includes one or more other network devices, where the network device and the one or more other network devices are associated with a first address that corresponds to the virtual router. The network device may filter egress traffic to drop egress traffic that includes a particular destination address and that is at an interface of the device that is not needed to deliver control traffic.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 16, 2009
Date of Patent: February 17, 2015
    Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.
Inventors: Vedamurthy A. Joshi, Sharath Sridhar, Raja Krishnamoorthy
  • Patent number: 8848529
Abstract: A method includes receiving network information for calculating weighted round-robin (WRR) weights, calculating WRR weights associated with queues based on the network information, and determining whether a highest common factor (HCF) exists in relation to the calculated WRR weights. The method further includes reducing the calculated WRR weights in accordance with the HCF, when it is determined that the HCF exists, and performing a WRR scheduling of packets, stored in the queues, based on the reduced WRR weights.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 30, 2014
    Assignee: Juniper Networks, Inc.
