  • Patent number: 6406189
Abstract: Method for manufacturing a cage, of the type intended to hold rolling bodies in place in a rolling bearing comprising at least one row of rolling bodies arranged between two raceways. The said cage comprises an annular part with cells intended to accommodate the rolling bodies, the said rolling bodies being clipped into the cells and held therein by means of elastically deformable members. The cage is obtained by moulding a blend of a polymer from the polyphthalamides group and of an elastomer.

  • Patent number: 6332718
Abstract: A rolling bearing device comprises an outer ring 105 provided with an internal raceway 106 formed on its bore, an inner ring 101 provided with an external raceway 102 formed on its cylindrical exterior surface, at least one row of rolling bodies 111 arranged between the two raceways 102, 106 and at least one sealing member 121 secured to one of the rings. The sealing member 121 comprises an annular metal reinforcement 123. The device comprises a part 126 for connecting between the reinforcement 123 and the ring which supports it, the connecting part 126 being formed by a filler metal which, after melting and cooling, provides attachment, sealing and molds to the shapes of the said reinforcement and the said ring.

  • Patent number: 6270001
Abstract: A method is disclosed of manufacturing a pulley with integral bearing comprising a sheet metal pulley mounted on the outer race of a bearing. The pulley is a close sliding fit on the outer race. The interstice between the pulley and the race is at least partly filled with a low-melting-point filler metal which, when heated, melts and diffuses by capillary action into the interstice between the pulley and the race, at least partly filling the interstice and fastens the pulley to the race when it solidifies. The filler metal is advantageously a brazing alloy having a melting point much lower than that of the parts to be joined together. Applications of the method include the manufacture of belt tensioning pulleys with integral bearings, as used on automobile vehicle engines, for example.

  • Patent number: 6106157
Abstract: A tension roll includes a rolling bearing protected by a sealing disk and having an outer ring possessing an end face and a bore surface, and an injection molded plastic roller shell arranged on the outer ring of the rolling bearing. The roller shell includes sections that are molded in one piece and cover the end face and the bore surface of the outer ring up to the sealing disk.

  • Patent number: 5332361
Abstract: A water pump, especially for the cooling system of a combustion engine of a car, has a housing with a space for a fluid. This space contains a pump device. The pump device is mounted on a shaft which projects form the housing. The shaft rotates while being supported by a bearing assembly. The bearing assembly has an outer stationary ring mounted on the housing. The fluid space id sealed with respect to the shaft by a sealing unit having a first ring connected to the shaft, and a stationary second ring mounted on the outer ring of the bearing assembly. The first and second rings have sealing surfaces which are directed toward one another, or extend axially. The first ring is resiliently biased toward the second ring, to provide a seal therebetween. The first ring is connected to the shaft via an elastic dampening and centering element located between the inner circumference of the first ring and the outer circumference of the shaft, and distributed over the circumference of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5180980
Abstract: Method for measuring the thickness of a lubricant film between two surfaces which are in motion with regard to one another, characterized by the fact that a lubricant with high relative permeability is used, whereby the polar pieces of an electromagnetic sensor are brought into contact with the lubricant film to be measured in such manner that they are bridged by the lubricant film.

  • Patent number: 5118118
Abstract: A sealing assembly forming a seal using a magnetic liquid around a rotatable shaft, comprising an armature for conducting a magnetic field, the armature having a free end adjacent the shaft to form an annular sealing gap; a quantitiy of magnetic liquid contained in the sealing gap by the magnetic field; and at least one covering member mounted on the assembly on one side of the gap to cooperatively define a space with the shaft for containing an amount of fluid at least two times the volume of the gap.

  • Patent number: 5100159
Abstract: A device for holding an amount of magnetic fluid by means of a magnetic field inside a gap-shaped space located around a rotatable shaft, including a unit consisting of an annular pole piece whose inner circumferential plane is located at a relatively short distance from the shaft. The device has at least one annular permanent magnet for generating the magnetic field, whereby the magnetic fluid is kept inside the gap-shaped space between this unit and the shaft. The invention is characterized by the fact that the pole piece (3, 14) is located between two annular permanent magnets (1, 2; 12, 13), whereby the analogous poles of these magnets are directed at each other and the inner circumferential planes of the two magnets are located essential equidistance from the shaft (4, 11) in order to form, together with the shaft, two annular spaces which are located on both sides of an annular intermediate gap.
