  • Patent number: 7821990
Abstract: The invention relates to a radio system which transmits packet traffic and to a method of transmitting service information flexibly between a network part and a terminal in a radio system which transmits packet traffic and in which a connection set-up process is activated by means of a session management arrangement when a connection is established between the terminal (402) and the network part (400). When service information is transmitted between the network part and the terminal, the party needing service activates the connection set-up process and during activation the party needing service indicates the need for service information and the quality of service with a message (602). The party providing service responds with one or more messages (606) which include service information. The connection set-up process is finished without establishing a connection. This way radio path resources can be saved.

  • Publication number: 20100267357
Abstract: The invention relates to a mobile terminal having an “in case of emergency (ICE) state”. The In Case of Emergency (ICE) state is reachable by pressing a predefined code, suitably ‘I’, ‘C, ‘E’ (which on most phones correspond to ‘4’, ‘2’, ‘3’) and then an additional button e.g. the ‘Send’-, ‘Accept’- or ‘Call’ key. This action overrides ‘keylock’, ‘phone lock’ and use of ‘PIN-code’ etc similarly to the current emergency number handling. The action causes the ICE contact information to be displayed on the mobile phone or other suitable actions. If more than one contact is available in the ICE contact information storage, a list of alternative ICE contacts may be displayed. The invention also relates to a corresponding method and computer program product implementing the method.

  • Patent number: 7801519
Abstract: A method and system for fixed parts of a cellular radio system to exchange capability information with a mobile station of the cellular radio system. The method includes transmitting capability information from the fixed parts of the cellular radio system, and receiving a comparison result at the network element from a mobile station, including a list of matched capability aspects including a higher level aspect and a list of lower level subaspects corresponding to the higher level aspect. The list of matched capability aspects indicates capability information common to the network element and the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 7474647
Abstract: A user equipment of a packet-switched radio system implements a user equipment location service, and has a network part with a core network and a radio network having a data transmission link to the core network and a radio link from the radio network to the user equipment. The radio network has a serving mobile location center for locating the user equipment and a second-layer logical link control relay set on the packet protocol stack. Data to be transmitted is placed in a message of a third-layer radio resource protocol, and the radio resource protocol message is transmitted to the radio network using a logical link control protocol set on the second layer of the packet protocol stack.

  • Patent number: 7177624
Abstract: A method and an arrangement are disclosed for a mobile station (111) of a cellular radio system to exchange capability information with the fixed parts (101) of the cellular radio system. The mobile station receives (513, 513?) capability information (103) from discussed parts (101) if the cellular radio system and compares (515, 516, 517, 517? 518, 518?, 519, 520) the received capability information (103) to a piece of capability information (112) describing the capability of the mobile station (111). The mobile station transmits (522, 522?) to the fixed parts (101) of the cellular radio system a comparison result (113) that indicates whether matches occurred between the received capability information (103) and said piece of capability information (112) describing the capability of the mobile station (111).

  • Patent number: 7167457
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for connection establishment and a radio system relaying packet traffic. A terminal informs the system that it wishes to transmit data. The network part receives the message and allocates default radio resources and informs the allocated resources to the terminal. The terminal sends a first control message to inform the terminal's radio path characteristics. According to the solution of the invention, when allocating the default amount of radio resources to the terminal, the network part is arranged to reserve one or more radio blocks for the terminal's control messages. When the terminal sends the network part information about its radio path characteristics, it is arranged to inform in the message if there are additional characteristics. In that case, the terminal sends a second control message including information about its radio path characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7142875
Abstract: In a system comprising at least two different domains both supporting location services, the Gateway Mobile Location Center routing the location service requests receives a routing address for both domains, i.e., at least two addresses, if the target mobile station has subscription to both domains. In order to select via which domain the attempts should be first made to obtain the location information of the target MS is found out at least in one domain and preferably in both domains.

  • Patent number: 6601207
Abstract: A method comprising transmitting a set of data blocks, receiving said set of data blocks, checking whether the transfer of the received data blocks has succeeded or failed; acknowledging, at specific intervals, the received data blocks by a bitmap. A bit of the bitmap corresponds to at least one transferred data block, and the value of the bit indicates the success or failure of the data transfer. Data blocks, the transfer of which has failed according to the bitmap, are re-transmitted. The method comprises determining a set of acknowledgement algorithms, each of which comprising a method for forming a bitmap of the received data blocks; maintaining information on the number of those data blocks, which have not been successfully received or the reception of which has not been acknowledged; initiating one of said acknowledgment algorithms by selecting the acknowledgement algorithm according to said number of data blocks.
