  • Patent number: 6140888
Abstract: The invention relates to a summing member comprising in-connectors for receiving and combining different RF signals and an out-connector for supplying the combined signals further, at least one of the connectors being coaxial and comprising an elongated rod-like inner conductor, and an outer conductor surrounding the rod-like inner conductor. To provide an adjustable summing point, said at least one connector comprises a moveable part of low-loss dielectric material or ferrimagnetic material, the part surrounding at least the inner conductor and being moveable lengthwise of the inner conductor so as to adjust the phase angle of a wave reflecting from the connector.

  • Patent number: 6005453
Abstract: A method of tuning a summing network of a base station and a band-pass filter provided in such base station. Tuning is performed by arranging a moveable part made of a low-loss dielectric material or ferrimagnetic material in a space between an inner conductor and a tubular conductor in a coaxial cable, the width of the cross-section of the moveable part being different from its length, and tuning the summing network by adjusting the phase angle reflecting from the connector by turning the moveable part about an axle which intersects the cross-section substantially perpendicularly, whereby the distance between the moveable part and the inner conductor and/or between the moveable part and the outer conductor changes.

  • Patent number: 5748060
Abstract: A dielectric resonator including a resonator disc, and a frequency controller, composed of an electrically conductive adjustment plate, and a dielectric adjustment body, which are movable by means of an adjustment mechanism with respect to a planar surface or planar surfaces of the resonator disc. In one embodiment a conductive adjustment plate and a dielectric adjustment plate are situated on opposite sides of the resonator disc. In another embodiment, one or more dielectric adjustment bodies are attached to an electrically conductive adjustment plate to form a hybrid structure. In both embodiments, the conductive adjustment plate and the dielectric adjustment plate or adjustment body are dimensioned and selected so that they have frequency adjustment curves which are substantially similar, but opposite with regard to their slopes of adjustment, so that the combined curve of frequency adjustment of the frequency controller is substantially linear.

  • Patent number: 5712606
Abstract: A dielectric resonator including a cylindrical dielectric resonator body having a concentric cylindrical recess. A resonance frequency controller includes an adjustment mechanism and a cylindrical dielectric adjustment body which is movable by means of the adjustment mechanism in the axial direction inside the recess of the resonator body for adjusting the resonance frequency. The frequency controller further includes a dielectric fine adjustment body attached to the adjustment mechanism and arranged inside the adjustment body so that the projection of the fine adjustment body at the end of the adjustment body within the recess in the resonator body can be adjusted by a movement of the adjustment mechanism. Thus, the frequency controller has two slopes of adjustment, whereby the adjustment is fast owing to the movement of both adjustment bodies and also extremely accurate owing to the fine adjustment function, which is achieved when the smaller adjustment body is moved alone.

  • Patent number: 5703548
Abstract: A dielectric resonator including a dielectric resonator disc, a frequency controller including an adjustment mechanism and a dielectric adjustment plate, which is substantially parallel with the resonator disc, and movable means of the adjustment mechanism in the perpendicular direction with respect to the resonator disc for adjusting the resonance frequency. The frequency adjuster includes a plurality of dielectric adjustment plates, which are substantially installed concentrically and parallel one after another. The mechanical engagement of the plates with each other and with the adjustment mechanism enabling movement of the adjustment plates both with respect to the resonator disc and to each other, so that the adjustment plates are arranged in layers on top of each other as the adjusting movement is proceeding. This results in improved linearity of frequency control and a longer adjustment distance, which both improve the adjustment accuracy.

  • Patent number: 5677654
Abstract: A dielectric resonator including a dielectric cylindrical resonator disc, and a resonance frequency controller. The frequency controller includes a dielectric cylindrical adjustment disc provided on the resonator disc so that the adjustment disc is movable in the radial direction for controlling the resonance frequency of the resonator. The frequency controller further includes a dielectric fine adjustment disc, provided on the adjustment disc so that the fine adjustment disc is movable by a movement of an adjustment mechanism with respect to the adjustment disc for fine adjustment of the resonance frequency. Thus, the frequency controller has two slopes of adjustment, whereby the adjustment is fast due to the movement of both adjustment discs, and also extremely accurate due to the fine adjustment function, which is achieved when the thinner adjustment disc alone is moved.

  • Patent number: 5677653
Abstract: A dielectric resonator including a dielectric resonator body and a frequency controller for adjusting the resonance frequency by moving a conductive metal plane in the vicinity of the dielectric resonator body. The frequency controller has a cylindrical supporting block connected to a casing, and a second cylindrical supporting block gliding telescopically inside it by means of friction surfaces. To this second cylindrical supporting block, a ring-shaped conductive adjustment plane is connected. A second conductive adjustment plane, in turn, is connected to the adjustment mechanism and arranged in a center hole of the ring-shaped adjustment plane and attached to the second supporting block in a manner which transfers the movement of the adjustment mechanism so that it first moves the second adjustment plane for a predetermined adjustment range, and thereafter both adjustment planes together.

  • Patent number: 5457812
Abstract: An arrangement for forming a radio test loop in a radio unit comprising several radio transmitters and radio receivers wherein each radio transmitter comprises a test signal output, which is adjustable during an operation of testing the radio transmitter, from a high-impedance state to a low-impedance state for outputting a test signal derived from a signal transmitted by the radio transmitter to a frequency converter for conversion to the receiving frequency before looping to the respective radio receiver. To reduce cable-laying required for the test loop, the test signal outputs of all the radio transmitters are connected with spacings of approximately n.lambda./2 to a common combiner cable connected to the input of the frequency converter, where .lambda.=the wave length at the transmitting frequency and n=1, 2, 3, . . . .
