  • Publication number: 20180047417
Abstract: A user wearing headphones (e.g., to listen to music, to engage in a voice call, etc.) may speak while receiving an audio signal through the headphones, which may cause the user to produce Lombard speech. Because the Lombard effect is generally involuntary, the user may be unaware that he or she is producing Lombard speech. The Lombard speech may inconvenience proximate individuals and/or embarrass the user (e.g., in an office, in an airport, etc.). An apparatus may be configured to receive, through a microphone communicatively coupled to the apparatus, an audio signal. The apparatus may be configured to determine whether the audio signal indicates speech by a user. The apparatus may be further configured to alert the user based on the determination that the audio signal indicates Lombard speech by the user.

  • Publication number: 20180048700
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may include a plurality of modems available to transmit data using different radio access technologies (RATs). For example, a UE may include a WiFi modem that allows the UE to connect to a wireless local area network (WLAN). The UE may further include a cellular modem that allows the UE to connect to a cellular network, such as a third generation (3G) network, fourth generation (4G) network, Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network, fifth generation (5G) network, and the like. The UE may select a RAT for transmission of data based on the data, an application associated with the data, or the like. The UE may then cause the data to be transmitted over the selected RAT, such as by providing the data to a transmission control protocol (TCP) stack associated with a modem for the selected RAT.

  • Publication number: 20170371615
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for alerting a user to a change in an audio stream. In an aspect, a user device of the user receives the audio stream, detects a change in an audio pattern occurring in the audio stream, wherein the detection of the change in the audio pattern occurs when the audio stream is muted, and in response to the detection of the change in the audio pattern, provides an alert to the user that indicates the change in the audio pattern has occurred.

  • Publication number: 20170367143
Abstract: Techniques for co-existence on a shared communication medium are disclosed. An activation command may be received, over a backhaul connection and via a first Radio Access Technology (RAT), configuring the first RAT for active operation on a shared communication medium. An activity indicator may be generated based on the active operation of the first RAT. Based on the activity indicator, one or more measurements scheduled to be performed on the communication medium in accordance with a second RAT and a corresponding wakeup schedule may be disabled. Access of a first RAT to a shared communication medium may also be monitored. A priority indicator for the first RAT may be generated based on the monitored access. Based on the priority indicator, release of a backhaul connection on the communication medium that is associated with a second RAT may be coordinated.

  • Publication number: 20170178630
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for sending a transcript of a voice conversation during telecommunication. In an aspect, a first user device participating in a voice call with at least a second user device, receives voice data from a user of the first user device, converts the voice data from the user of the first user device into a speech-to-text transcript of the voice data, transmits the voice data to the second user device on a first channel, and transmits the speech-to-text transcript of the voice data to the second user device on a second channel.

  • Publication number: 20130303240
Abstract: Methods and apparatus of tune away in wireless communications include receiving a master information block (MIB) from a first subscription network entity on a first subscription in a user equipment (UE). The method further includes determining system information block (SIB) scheduling information associated with the first subscription network entity. Moreover, the method includes tuning away from the first subscription to a second subscription.

  • Publication number: 20130229964
Abstract: The described aspects include a user equipment (UE) apparatus, network component, and corresponding methods of communicating power saving information using common uplink messages. By using a resource update message to communicate power saving information from a UE, the UE need not request and establish resources with the network for requesting a power state that uses less power than a current state. Similarly, in UE mobility, the UE can indicate previous power saving information to a target Node B to cause the target Node B to refrain from assigning resources to the UE.

  • Patent number: 8385893
Abstract: A particular method includes processing a call connection between a user equipment (UE) device and a first network. The UE device is coupled to or includes at least a first subscriber identity module (SIM) that is associated with the first network and a second SIM that is associated with a second network. The method includes sending a status update message to the second network associated with the second SIM. The status update message instructs the second network to provide a busy status message in response to receiving a call connection request that is directed to the second SIM.
