  • Patent number: 9408245
Abstract: The present disclosure includes systems and methods for acquiring service using multiple channels. In one embodiment, the present invention includes a method comprising successively configuring a first wireless communication channel and a second wireless communication channel of a single wireless apparatus to receive a plurality of signal frequencies of one or more radio communication protocols. The first wireless communication channel is configured to receive different signal frequencies of the plurality of signal frequencies than the second wireless communication channel. The first wireless communication channel and the second wireless communication channel process the plurality of signal frequencies in parallel to establish a service connection.

  • Patent number: 9294141
Abstract: Methods and devices are disclosed for enabling improved performance for page decodes on a SIM of a multi-SIM wireless communication device in which a shared radio frequency (RF) resource is used to read system information for a different SIM. After determining that a first SIM is using the shared RF resource to decode SIBs, the wireless device may receive information about an upcoming page decode time for monitoring a paging channel associated with the second SIM. The wireless device may obtain system information block (SIB) scheduling information associated with the first SIM, and may create a RF resource release gap during the system information read period based on the SIB scheduling information and the upcoming page decode time. Control of the RF resource may be released from the modem stack associated within the first SIM, and gained by a modem stack associated with the second SIM during the RF resource release gap.

  • Publication number: 20160021520
Abstract: A method for enabling emergency calls on a mobile communication device includes: searching for available communication channels in one or more supported frequency bands and shared communication channels in one or more unsupported frequency bands; storing information including channel frequency and channel criteria about one or more available shared communication channels detected in the one or more unsupported frequency bands; and camping on one of the one or more available shared communication channels in one of the one or more unsupported frequency bands if no available communication channels exist in the one or more supported frequency bands.

  • Publication number: 20150257027
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described for optimizing measurement scheduling for devices capable of operating according to several radio access technologies (RATs). Mobile devices, including devices with dual-SIM, dual-standby (DSDS) capability, may be equipped with multi-RAT modems, which, according to the techniques described herein, may be scheduled to conduct measurements to improve throughput to the device. Scheduled measurements for one RAT may be rescheduled to avoid time periods during which data communications for another RAT are scheduled. In some examples, measurements for one RAT are scheduled to avoid overlapping with scheduled communications for that RAT.

  • Patent number: 9131475
Abstract: A method and apparatus configured to perform fast acquisition in multi-subscription multi-active devices are described. The apparatus may establish a first traffic call associated with a first subscription using a first radio frequency chain and a second traffic call associated with a second subscription using a second radio frequency chain. A subscription corresponding to a third subscription may enter an out-of-service mode when the first and second traffic calls are established. A first network may be acquired for the first subscription using the first RF chain after the first traffic call is terminated. The third subscription may be transitioned from out-of-service mode to idle mode using acquisition information inherited from the subscription corresponding to the first SIM after the first network is acquired. The third subscription and the first network may be associated with a same radio access technology and a same network operator.
