  • Patent number: 7990924
Abstract: Mobile node registration with the home network of the mobile node is delayed when the mobile node moves to a foreign network. The mobile node has a home network in which the mobile node has a home address. In response to the mobile node moving to a foreign network (such as by being turned on in the foreign network), the mobile node receives a care-of address. Where the mobile node has no ongoing communication sessions, the mobile node waits to register its care-of address with its home agent in the home network until the mobile node initiates a communication session within the foreign network, which may not ever occur. The mobile node by registering the care-of address with the home agent informs the home agent where to forward data sent to the mobile node's home address.

  • Patent number: 7920513
Abstract: When a mobile node suffers an abrupt shut down while operating in a foreign network and recovers in its home network, the present invention enables the mobile node to reestablish communication capability, without time delay, with the nodes that had established one or more communication sessions with the mobile node prior to the abrupt shut down. The mobile node of the present invention includes an update module that determines whether additional information needs to be sent to the nodes in communication with the mobile node prior to the mobile node suffering an abrupt shut down. Based on that determination, the update module may provide additional information to such nodes.

  • Patent number: 7899456
Abstract: When a mobile node moves to a network (foreign network) other than its home network, it must register with the home network so that the home agents are able to tunnel messages to the mobile node while it is operating in the foreign network. The present invention enables the mobile node to register with its home network substantially faster than it would take the mobile node to register under the currently available methods. The mobile node of the present invention includes a retrieval module and a registration module that allows it to register with the home network in accordance with the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7843871
Abstract: When a mobile node suffers an abrupt shut down while operating in a foreign network and recovers in a new foreign network, the invention enables the mobile node to reestablish communication capability, without time delay, with the nodes that had established one or more communication sessions with the mobile node prior to the abrupt shut down. The mobile node of the invention includes an update module that determines whether additional information needs to be sent to the nodes in communication with the mobile node prior to the mobile node suffering an abrupt shut down. Based on that determination, the update module may provide additional information to such nodes.

  • Patent number: 7702762
Abstract: The invention comprises a system for providing host-to-host connectivity through use of SAN. In the preferred embodiment, the end-to-end host connectivity is accomplished through the FICON protocol, over the Fiber Channel layered stack on a standard Fiber Channel adapter that runs transparently across the SAN infrastructure.

Abstract: Mobile wireless management of servers and other resources is disclosed. A system is disclosed that includes a resource, such as a server or a network platform, and one or more mobile wireless consoles. Each mobile wireless console at least indirectly communicates with the resource over a wireless network, in accordance with an open, common, and non-proprietary protocol, to manage the resource. The system may include an intervening wireless gateway between the mobile wireless consoles and the resource, where the gateway may be located outside of a firewall. The open, common, and non-proprietary protocol may be a version of the Wireless Access Protocol (WAP), an Internet Protocol (IP)-based mobile protocol, or another type of protocol.
