  • Publication number: 20100262348
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, a device for controlling an amount of torque generated by a powertrain in a vehicle is provided. The controller is configured to receive a driver status signal indicative of the status of the driver, a driver condition signal indicative of the driving conditions of the vehicle, and a driver mode signal indicative of the driving mode of the vehicle. The controller is further configured to control the powertrain to adjust the amount of torque that is generated based on the driver status signal, the driver condition signal, and the driver mode signal.

  • Patent number: 7484377
Abstract: A system and method for detecting failure of a cooling system in an alternating current machine, such as a motor and/or a generator. For example, in one embodiment energy wasting is initiated and a failure is indicated if a temperature rises by more than a selected amount over a selected time period.

  • Patent number: 7178412
Abstract: An encoder failure detector system and method for detecting failure of an encoder at near-zero rotational speeds. For example, in one embodiment a failure is indicated if a torque command exceeds a selected threshold for a selected period of time and no movement of a rotor is detected during the selected period of time.
