  • Patent number: 10542487
Abstract: An edge device comprising access network discovery and selection function (ANDSF) features is disclosed. An edge device can be a device located at a logical edge of a wireless network. An edge ANDSF component can rank access network resources. The rank can be based on characteristics of an access network resource, a user profile, device resource demands, or a user behavior model. The user profile can comprise information facilitating pre-authentication of a device to an access network resource. Further, the user profile can be considered portable with regard to localized aspects of edge ANDSF components. The user profile provides improved ANDSF feature performance.

  • Publication number: 20200014556
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a process that continuously connects the processing system to a control plane of a wireless communication network, which includes equipment operating in at least one of the control plane or a user plane. Control information is received across the control plane indicating that client data is to be provided to a client device via the user plane. Responsive to receiving a control signal, an awake signal is sent to the client device. The client device, in response to the awake signal, being placed from an idle state to an active state. The idle state consumes a lower level of power than the active state. The client data is further provided to the client device over a premises communication network via a protocol stack of a client function. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200013041
Abstract: Crowd-location based analytics for transactions are provided. An assembly of mobile devices in a cell sector (or, in some embodiments, a cell) of wireless coverage can be determined. The assembly can be referred to as a crowd and can comprise a number of mobile devices greater than the cell sector's average device occupation. Organization entities located within the cell sector also can be identified. A demand or interest for an asset (e.g., a service or merchandise) can be determined for the mobile device based at least on a device profile. The demand or interest can be associated with the organization entity that can provide the asset. Promotional information related to the asset can be sent to the mobile device and/or a device associated with the organization entity. The mobile device can present at least a portion of such information and a transaction related to the asset can be performed otherwise facilitated.

  • Publication number: 20200007451
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a first service request via a network, transmitting a query to service layer equipment, and receiving, from the service layer equipment, first service requirements to fulfill the first service request. Responsive to receiving the first service requirements, a request for network resource capacity information is transmitted to instantiated software defined network (SDN) controllers. Network capacity information is received from the instantiated SDN controllers and an insufficiency thereof is determined according to the service requirements and the network capacity information. Another software defined network controller is instantiated into the network, responsive to the determined insufficiency, to fulfill the first service request. The first service requirements are met, in part, by the instantiated software defined network controllers that are instantiated and, in part, by the other software defined network controller.

  • Patent number: 10476581
Abstract: Based on electronic communication received from a wireless device or from an access point, it is determined that a wireless signal relay is needed between the wireless device and the access point. In response to the determination, a drone is deployed between the wireless device and the access point to relay wireless signals between the wireless device and the access point. The deployed drone measures a first strength of a first wireless signal received from the wireless device or measures a second strength of a second wireless signal received from the access point. Based on the measurements, it is determined that the wireless device has moved relative to the access point after the drone has been deployed. In response to the determining that the wireless device has moved, the location of the drone is adjusted to maintain the first strength or the second strength above a predetermined level.
