  • Publication number: 20240098234
Abstract: A head-mounted device is provided that includes one or more cameras configured to acquire a raw video feed and one or more displays configured to present a passthrough video feed to a user. Generation of the passthrough video feed can involve processing the raw video feed using an image signal processor and auxiliary compute blocks. One or more of the auxiliary compute blocks can be bypassed in response to detecting one or more failures associated with the auxiliary compute blocks. Configured and operated in this way, the head-mounted device can fall back to a more reliable passthrough video feed without having to power cycle the head-mounted device when a failure occurs.

  • Patent number: 10826304
Abstract: A battery capacity translator (209) includes an input (301), an output (302), and a conversion circuit (305) coupled between the input and the output. The conversion circuit receives stored energy capacity information (701,702) corresponding to one or more energy storage cells of a first type at the input, and converts the stored energy capacity information to modeled stored energy capacity information (703) corresponding to one or more other energy storage cells of a second type. This modeled stored energy capacity information is delivered to the output to emulate the energy storage cells of the second type in legacy systems.

  • Publication number: 20200036056
Abstract: A battery system includes at least one lithium-ion battery having a unique identification associated therewith. A gas sensor detects at least one gas produced by the lithium-ion battery when the lithium-ion battery experiences a fault condition. The gas sensor also enters a state signal in response thereto. A monitoring circuit includes a memory that stores the unique identification of the battery. The monitoring circuit monitors the gas sensor. A wireless communication device is disposed on the battery and is in data communication with the monitoring circuit. The wireless communication device transmits a wireless alarm signal when the alert state is asserted. A remote wireless communication unit is in wireless data communication with the wireless communication device and receives the wireless alarm signal therefrom. The remote wireless communication unit generates a human-perceptible notification when the wireless alarm signal has been received.

  • Patent number: 10440542
Abstract: A battery system includes a battery, a monitoring circuit, a wireless communication device and a remote wireless communication unit, and a deployable drone parachute. The monitoring circuit includes a processing unit and non-volatile memory that stores a unique identification of the battery. The wireless communication device is disposed on the battery and is in data communication with sensor circuits. The wireless communication device transmits real time operational parameter data sensed by the sensor circuits. The remote wireless communication unit is in wireless data communication with the wireless communication device and receives the operational parameter data therefrom.

  • Patent number: 6110618
Abstract: Described is a two-part housing for a battery cell having circuitry separate from the main body of the cell. Finger joints, blind dado joints, and edge joints with rabbeted edges are disposed in the mating region between the two halves of the housing. An insulating and alignment wall is integral with one half of the housing, and fits in the channel between the main body of the cell and the circuitry. The housing is dimensionally stable, provides mechanical protection for the delicate cell circuitry, and the two halves of the housing may be secured using only a label wrap.

  • Patent number: 6025996
Abstract: Described is an integral electrical contact block and printed circuit board for an electrical device. The electrical contacts arch over components on the printed circuit board and are secured to the printed circuit board at either end of the arch. A second arch is above the lower arch, secured to the lower arch at one end, forming a structure with an open mouth. This open mouth can capture a plastic housing. The contact provides protection for components beneath it, provides for efficient use of space in an electrical device, and the mouth of the contact absorbs shock that otherwise might be transmitted directly to solder joints on the printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 5800937
Abstract: A secondary battery (100) includes a cell (110) having a positive terminal (115) and a negative terminal (120), a device (130, 140) for coupling the positive terminal (115) to the negative terminal (120) in response to swelling of the cell (100), and a fuse (125) coupled between the positive terminal (115) and the negative terminal (120) in response to swelling of the cell (110).According to another aspect of the present invention, a secondary battery (700) has external contacts (150, 155) and includes a cell (110) having a positive terminal (115) and a negative terminal (120) that are coupled to the external contacts (150, 155) during normal cell operation. In response to swelling of the cell (110), a device (705, 720, 725, 730, 735) decouples at least one of the positive and negative terminals (115, 120) from at least one of the external contacts (150, 155) in response to swelling of the cell (110).
