Patent number: 12716488Abstract: A method for controlling an automatic transmission of a vehicle. The method includes operating the transmission in an automatic mode whereby gear shifting of the transmission is performed automatically based on a speed of the vehicle; receiving a shifting request from a user-operated gear shifter to either: (i) upshift the transmission from a current gear to a higher gear; or (ii) downshift the transmission from the current gear to a lower gear. In response to the shifting request, the method continues with operating the transmission in a semi-automatic mode whereby gear shifting is based on user-generated shifting requests; performing the upshift or the downshift according to the shifting request; monitoring a speed of an engine of the vehicle; and in response to the speed being at a lower speed limit or an upper speed limit, returning operation of the transmission to the automatic mode.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2024Date of Patent: August 25, 2026Assignee: BRP-ROTAX GMBH & CO. KGInventors: Petra Wiesinger, Robert Ebner, Verena Wolfsegger, David Fillion

Patent number: 12455007Abstract: A method for controlling a powertrain of a vehicle, the powertrain a dual-clutch transmission including a first clutch and a second clutch selectively actuated to transmit motion from the engine to a first shaft and a second shaft respectively. The method includes producing a first shift request for shifting from an initial gear to a different gear; in response to the first shift request, executing a first shift sequence to shift from the initial gear to the different gear; during execution of the first shift sequence, producing a second shift request for shifting from the different gear to the initial gear; in response to the second shift request: interrupting the first shift sequence prior to the first shift sequence having finished; and executing a second shift sequence to reverse the first shift sequence such that the transmission engages the initial gear for driving on the first shaft.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2025Date of Patent: October 28, 2025Assignee: BRP-ROTAX GMBH & CO. KGInventors: Alexander Tausch, Robert Ebner, Verena Wolfsegger

Patent number: 11841079Abstract: A method for controlling an automatic transmission of a vehicle includes: sensing a speed of the vehicle; sensing an acceleration of the vehicle along three spatial axes; determining that the vehicle is in a jump state associated with the vehicle being off a ground surface, the jump state being defined at least in part by the acceleration of the vehicle along the three spatial axes and the speed of the vehicle; and controlling the transmission according to a jump strategy in response to determining that the vehicle is in the jump state. Other methods for controlling an automatic transmission of a vehicle are also contemplated.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 2023Date of Patent: December 12, 2023Assignee: BRP-ROTAX GMBH & CO.
