Abstract: A coil apparatus, including a radio frequency (RF) coil configured to transmit an RF transmission signal onto an object; a sensor configured to detect a static magnetic field formed in a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus; a processor configured to determine a direction of the static magnetic field, determine an orientation direction of the coil apparatus with respect to the determined direction of the static magnetic field, and transmit a control signal for controlling a phase of an RF signal that is applied to the RF coil, based on the orientation direction of the coil apparatus; and a switch configured to change the phase of the RF signal that is applied to the RF coil, based on the control signal.

Abstract: A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) apparatus may be provided. The MRI apparatus may include: a magnet assembly configured to generate a magnetic field in an inner space of the magnet assembly; a radiofrequency (RF) reception coil configured to receive a magnetic resonance (MR) signal excited from an object to which the magnetic field is applied; a magnetic sensor disposed at the RF reception coil and configured to detect a voltage value indicating a static field generated by the magnet assembly; and a processor configured to determine whether the RF reception coil is placed in a normal position based on the voltage value transmitted from the magnetic sensor when the RF reception coil enters the inner space of the magnetic assembly.

Abstract: A local coil apparatus, a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus, and a control method of the local coil apparatus are provided. The local coil apparatus includes a radio frequency (RF) receiving coil configured to receive an RF signal from an object, a temperature sensor configured to sense a temperature of the local coil apparatus, and a reactance controller configured to control a reactance of the RF receiving coil in response to the temperature of the local coil apparatus being greater than or equal to a reference value.
