Abstract: An exemplary method includes a machine-to-machine (“M2M”) rules management system associated with an M2M platform 1) processing a plurality of events associated with one or more M2M objects in substantially real-time as the events occur over a period of time, 2) receiving, while the events are being processed in substantially real-time, data representative of a rule created by a user associated with the M2M platform, and 3) dynamically applying, in response to receiving the data representative of the rule, the rule to the substantially real-time processing of the events. Corresponding methods and systems are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system and method of operation is disclosed describing migration, management, and operation of applications and servers from customer data centers to cloud computing platforms without modification to existing environments or user access procedures. A cloud isolation layer operates as a virtual layer on the cloud platform, enabling server operation in a virtual environment that appears the same as the prior local environment. A cloud software image and a local cloud gateway act to redirect existing addressing from the local environment to the cloud implementation through secure network and data paths. A local management application provides a control interface and maps and manages the local environment and utilized cloud resources.

Abstract: In an exemplary method, at least one computing device 1) stores a plurality of content instances associated with a plurality of user profiles, 2) determines, based on a predefined relevance heuristic, a relevance between a user profile and each of the other user profiles included in the plurality of user profiles, 3) prioritizes, based on the determined relevance between the user profile and each of the other user profiles, the plurality of content instances relative to one another, and 4) provides, for display, data representative of the prioritized plurality of content instances.

Abstract: An approach is provided for sharing dynamic content among users. A communication system receives a request, via a voice communication session with a user device, for visual content that includes dynamic content. The communication system determines one or more of a plurality of destination devices to direct the visual content, wherein the one or more destination devices includes the user device. The communication system then initiates transmission of the visual content to the one or more destination devices over a communication session that is separate from the voice communication session.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods for providing bandwidth-on-demand telecommunications services over next-generation optical transport networks (NG-OTN). One embodiment of a system providing bandwidth-on-demand services includes a next-generation optical transport network (NG-OTN) having an intelligent control plane (ICP) and new-generation synchronous optical network (NG-SONET) capabilities. A next-generation operation support subsystem (NG-OSS) is communicatively coupled to the NG-OTN. The NG-OTN and the NG-OSS are configured to provide the bandwidth-on-demand services.

Resources that are becoming overloaded can be throttled back. Reports relating to resource usage may be transmitted to the console component. The one or more devices may generate a text message that includes information identifying a user device, information identifying a geographic location of the user device, and information identifying a particular emergency services network of the group of emergency services networks; establish, based on the text message, a text-based communication session between the user device and a call taker device within the particular emergency services network; store session information regarding the text-based communication session; receive a subsequent text message; and transmit the subsequent text message to the call taker device based on the session information.

Abstract: A method includes communicating with a first wireless network of a first type, and obtaining a location-based operating parameter from the first wireless network. The method further includes checking the validity of the location-based operating parameter obtained from the first wireless network. If the location-based operating parameter obtained from the first wireless network is not valid, then the method further includes searching for a second wireless network of a second type, and updating the location-based operating parameter from the second wireless network.

Abstract: This disclosure details the implementation of methods, systems and computer program products for a customer satisfaction engine (CSE). Embodiments of the CSE allow callers to key in customer satisfaction data using a rating system and/or to change customer service representatives (CSR) during the course of a customer service call rather than after the call has ended. Caller generated ratings may be stored in a database in association with the respective CSR profile for later access, analysis, and/or review. CSE embodiments may also allow customers to log in to a website and view operations made by the CSR as a service call progresses. CSE systems may provide for improved customer service and allow companies improved efficiency, monitoring and reporting of CSR performance.

Abstract: Power outages and restorations at telecommunications subscribers' premises can be automatically detected and reported in a manner that is sensitive to subscriber privacy concerns. A server device receives, from a network terminal device installed at a subscriber premise, an alert that the network terminal device has lost primary power from a power grid. The server device determines a physical address of a location for the network terminal and associates the physical address of the network terminal location with particular power grid equipment. The server device determines whether a power outage of the power grid has occurred and outputs a notification of the power outage associated with the particular power grid equipment when the power outage is determined to occur.

Abstract: A method performed by a wireless node includes receiving a data flow associated with user devices; performing a packet inspection of the data flow; determining whether a network address of the wireless node matches another network address associated with the data flow; converting the other network address to a layer 2 identifier when the other network address matches the network address; establishing a bearer link within the wireless node based on the layer 2 identifier; and offloading the data flow from layers of a network, which are higher relative to the wireless node, to the bearer link, wherein the data flow does not traverse the layers.

Abstract: Systems and methods for throttling network usage are disclosed. An exemplary method includes an access device maintaining throttling command interpretation data, receiving a throttling command broadcast over a wide area network, interpreting the throttling command based on the throttling command interpretation data, and conforming at least one operation of the access device to a network usage throttling level in accordance with the interpretation of the throttling command. Corresponding systems and methods are also disclosed.
