  • Patent number: 8132998
Abstract: A ramp member is pivotally supported at the rear of a flat bed trailer for pivotal movement between a loading position extending from the flat bed to the ground and a storage position supported on the trailer bed, through an intermediate position between the loading position and the storage position. First and second torsion members are arranged such that at least one of the torsion members biases the ramp member from each of the loading and storage positions towards the intermediate position. The torsion members permit substantially a full weight of the ramp member to be counter-balanced through its full range of motion so that a single ramp member spanning a full width of a rear end of the trailer in the lateral direction can be manually displaced by a single operator.

  • Patent number: 6932412
Abstract: A cover for a flatbed trailer comprises two symmetrical halves of an outer shell forming the cover which are secured to respective longitudinal sides of the deck of the trailer for pivoting into an open position in a sideways lateral direction. The front and rear ends of the deck of the trailer are thus unobstructed for loading with ramps as desired.

  • Patent number: 5558486
Abstract: A flat bed trailer for snowmobiles has a width sufficient to receive two snowmobiles side by side. A front edge of the flat bed trailer includes two portions inclined inwardly and forwardly to an apex on a center line of the trailer thus defining a triangular forward area for storage in front of the snowmobiles. Two gravel guards are provided in the form of flat panels which can be used for loading or as gravel guards. In the gravel guard position, each of the panels is mounted on a respective one of the front edge portions by posts at the edge of the panel which engage vertically into tubular pockets at the front edge portion. The length of the panels is equal to the length of the front edge portion so that at the apex the panels are squeezed together by a transverse rod. The panels can be removed from the guard position and used for unloading by engaging lugs at the end of the panels into loops at the rear beam of the trailer or into the tubular pockets.
