  • Patent number: 7000959
Abstract: An adjustable strike mounting system having a cover plate, which can be mounted to an astragal having a housing, which has a longitudinal channel having retention guides, vertically slidable blocks, which have transverse slots, having horizontally slidable threaded elements, and spring leaves, which are adapted to hold the vertically slidable blocks in selected positions, the cover plates adapted to provide mounting surfaces for the strike plates, the cover plates abutting the retention guides, the strike plates having apertures, which can be aligned with locations of the locks and deadbolts quickly, easily, and efficiently, the adjustable strike mounting system facilitating and allowing vertical and horizontal movement of the strike plates in the astragal, facilitating location and alignment of fasteners, and minimizing loss of the fasteners within the astragal and resultant jamming of the astragal and other operating parts of the astragal.

  • Patent number: 6125584
Abstract: An automatic door bottom for a hinged door which is pivotable to be positioned over a sill when closed, the door having a hinge side and a width, the door bottom having an inverted channel having an open bottom, a length corresponding to the door width and a hinge end corresponding to the hinge side of the door; a sealing member having a length corresponding to the length of the channel, the sealing member being housed in the channel and being movable vertically downwardly into a sealing position in which the sealing member will contact the sill when the door is closed; and a displacement mechanism installed in the channel and coupled to the sealing member for moving the sealing member vertically into the sealing position in response to closing of the door, wherein the displacement mechanism is coupled to the sealing member at a plurality of points along the length of the sealing member and is operative to move the end of the sealing member at the hinge side of the channel into the sealing position prior to t

  • Patent number: 5350207
Abstract: A locking astragal for attaching to an inactive leaf of a double doorway. In the illustrated embodiment, an elongated astragal casing has a channel and bolt-slide assemblies mounted slidably within the channel. Each bolt-slide assembly includes a latching member and bolt. By depressing the latching member, the latching member can slide through the channel to extend and lock the bolts into indentations in the upper and lower surfaces of the door frame. The bolts may also be retracted back into the astragal to open the inactive leaf. In the illustrated embodiment, each latching member has an integral spring which simplifies fabrication and assembly.

  • Patent number: 4073038
Abstract: A tension spring motor for use in a pintle or cartridge like container is employed to return hinged parts to an initial position after having been rotated to a second position. Door hinges are a typical example where a spring automatically returns the door to closed position after it has been opened. To vary the tension in the spring use is made of a pair of notched members housed within the pintle, one being a fixed member and the other being a movable member attached to the spring and rotatable to different positions of adjustment. A wrench hold in the movable member is accessible from the outside through a hole in the fixed member.

  • Patent number: 4073037
Abstract: A pair of leaf hinges have respective knuckles in axial alignment providing respective axially aligned chambers for reception of a pintle serving as a pivot for the hinges. The pintle is provided with a keying rib, and grooves in the respective knuckles and are in alignment only when the hinge is rotated to extreme position to permit insertion of the pintle and the keying rib into operative position within the knuckles. When the hinge is installed on a door and the door mounted on a frame, the door can not normally be swung to a position wherein the grooves are in alignment so that the pintle can not be removed from the hinge as long as the door stays in mounted position on the frame.
