  • Patent number: 5413487
Abstract: A densifier and cooling elevator for compressing previously separated burnable waste material into cubes of desired length and shape with the cubes forming a fuel for various purposes in which a burnable product can be effectively used. The densifier includes a rotatable drum and a plurality of circumferentially positioned die tubes which are welded together and held in rigid radial position. The inner ends of the die tubes are supplied with waste material treated previously in various stages of a waste recycling apparatus. Oppositely disposed rollers engage, compress and compact the waste material into the die tubes and extrude the compacted waste material from the die tubes as a dense cube. The cooling elevator supplies the previously treated burnable waste material to the drum and is provided with spray nozzles that may be optionally employed to cool or provide moisture to the waste material to more effectively enable the waste material to be compressed and compacted into cubes.

  • Patent number: 5024335
Abstract: A sorter for separating waste material such as aluminum cans, large plastic containers, cardboard containers, cardboard, small lumber or wood material, paper and similar lightweight material by directing the waste material to be sorted downwardly onto pairs of elongated driven rollers which are arranged for gripping and pulling paper and similar material downwardly between adjacent rollers of a pair while aluminum cans and large plastic and cardboard containers will move longitudinally on the rollers with the plastic containers being lifted upwardly and discharged onto a conveyor and the cans being discharged from the ends of the rollers. The rollers have a spiral rib thereon to facilitate gripping of paper material and movement of the aluminum cans and containers. A kicker, in the form of a rotatable brush, is oriented above the discharge end of the rollers for lifting large lightweight material such as large containers upwardly along the interior of a curved deflector onto a conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4960247
Abstract: A shredder specifically adapted for use in shredding compost, trash and similar material and includes a generally cylindrical shredding cylinder receiving compost adjacent one end thereof and discharging shredded compost adjacent the opposite end with the cylinder including a plurality of grate bars mounted on the inner surface thereof which coact with a high speed rotary drum or shaft having a plurality of hammers pivotally mounted thereon. Each of the hammers includes a straight shank and twisted end portion which effectively shreds compost due to the close relationship between the ends of the hammers and the grate bars during rotation of the drum or shaft with the twist on the ends of the hammers causing spiral and longitudinal movement of the compost material through the shredder.

  • Patent number: 4925116
Abstract: A shredder for shredding or comminuting trash, waste material and the like in a waste recycling system which includes a hopper having a pair of spaced rotatable shafts with shredding elements thereon forming the bottom portion of the hopper with the shafts being independently driven at a relatively slow speed with the shredding elements being generally circular and having overlapping peripheral portions with staggered teeth thereon and rotating in opposite directions to provide an effective shearing, shredding and comminuting action. The shafts are square with the shredding elements having a correspondingly square central aperture so that they can slip onto the shaft in one of four positions with spacers provided between the shredding elements to maintain them properly spaced thereby eliminating the necessity of using keys or other fastening arrangements. The teeth on each shredding element has an inclined radial face with the teeth being located at circumferentially different positions.

  • Patent number: 4019309
Abstract: A round bale forming machine having a drum for picking up and rolling the windrowed hay into a round bale, at least one roller movably mounted in the machine for compacting and forming the bale, and a laterally mounted comb disposed behind the drum for picking up hay missed by the drum and for depositing that hay on the drum wherein it is placed onto the forming bale.
