  • Patent number: 4724275
Abstract: Crystalline Group VIII metal aluminosilicate compositions which are prepared by exchanging or impregnating a Group VIII metal onto an aluminosilicate. Conversion of methanol in the presence of a hydrogen cofeed to low molecular hydrocarbons employing these aluminosilicates as catalysts is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 1, 1985
Date of Patent: February 9, 1988
Assignee: National Distillers and Chemical Corporation
Inventors: James A. Hinnenkamp, John A. Scheben, Vernon V. Walatka
  • Patent number: 4707500
Abstract: Crystalline ferroborosilicate compositions are prepared from a silica containing mixture by digesting a reaction mixture comprising a tetraalkylammonium compound, a sodium hydroxide, a boron compound, an oxide of silicon, an iron ion source, an optional chelating agent and water to provide the crystalline ferroborosilicate which is then palladium ion-exchanged. This composition may be used alone or physically mixed with a methanol catalyst. Conversion of synthesis gas, dimethylether, ethylene and methanol to low molecular hydrocarbons employing these new ferroborosilicates as catalysts is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 29, 1986
Date of Patent: November 17, 1987
Assignee: National Distillers and Chemical Corporation
Inventors: James A. Hinnenkamp, Vernon V. Walatka
  • Patent number: 4670474
Abstract: Crystalline palladium or platinum ferrometallosilicate compositions are prepared from a silica-containing mixture by digesting a reaction mixture comprising (a) a tetraalkylammonium compound, (b) a sodium hydroxide, (c) a titanium compound, an aluminum compound, or a manganese compound, (d) an oxide of silicon, (e) an iron ion source, (f) optionally, a chelating agent and (g) water to provide a crystalline ferrometallosilicate which is then palladium or platinum ion-exchanged. Conversion of synthesis gas to low molecular hydrocarbons with high C.sub.2 -C.sub.3 alkanes selectivity employing these new ferrometallosilicates as catalysts is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4462971
Abstract: Crystalline metal silicates and metal borosilicate compositions exhibit useful catalytic properties when the reaction mixture from which they are prepared includes a metal whose oxide precipitates at a pH above 7 and an amount of urea or other compound which upon hydrolysis releases ammonia. The precipitated metal hydroxide is incorporated into the crystalline composition as it forms. These compositions exhibit the X-ray pattern of a ZSM-5 zeolite and have an aluminum content of less than 100 wppm and a composition expressed in terms of its oxides as follows:(0.2-80)R.sub.(2/n) O: (0.1-20) M.sub.(2/m) O: (0-40)B.sub.2 O.sub.3 : 100 SiO.sub.2 :(0-200)H.sub.2 Owhere R is tetramethyl ammonium cation, ammonium cation, hydrogen cation, an alkali metal cation, metal cation or mixtures thereof, n is the valence of R, M is a metal whose hydroxide precipitates at a pH above 7 and m is the valence of said metal. These crystalline silicates and borosilicates are usefully employed as catalysts in hydrocarbon conversions.

  • Patent number: 4423020
Abstract: Crystalline metal silicate compositions are prepared from a silica containing mixture which is substantially free of aluminum ions and which contains a chelating agent by digesting a reaction mixture comprising, a tetraalkylammonium compound, sodium hydroxide, a metal compound, an oxide of silicon, a chelating agent and water, with the reaction mixture containing less than about 100 ppm aluminum. Crystalline borosilicate compositions are of special interest. A method for activating the new crystalline compositions to enhance their usefulness for certain conversion processes is also disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 15, 1981
Date of Patent: December 27, 1983
Assignee: National Distillers and Chemical Corporation
Inventors: James A. Hinnenkamp, Vernon V. Walatka, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4376757
Abstract: New crystalline silicate compositions are prepared from a silica containing mixture which is substantially free of aluminum ions and contains a source of choline by digesting a reaction mixture comprising a choline salt, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, an oxide of silicon, water and, optionally, a Group VIII metal salt with the reaction mixture containing less than about 1000 ppm aluminum. These crystalline silicates exhibit a distinctive X-ray diffraction pattern and have a composition as expressed in terms of its oxides, as follows: ##EQU1## where R is the organic nitrogen-containing cation derived from choline, M is an alkali metal ion, ammonium, hydrogen, a metal cation or mixtures thereof, m is the valence of M, Z is a Group VIII metal cation and z is the valence of said Group VIII metal cation. These crystalline silicates are usefully employed as catalysts in hydrocarbon conversions.
