  • Publication number: 20240109856
Abstract: An integrated process for making furan-2,5-dicarboxylic acid (FDCA) and FDCA derivatives combines a furfural oxidation reaction, an intermediate water removal step, and a furoate salt carboxylation reaction. A furfural feed stream is oxidized with an alkaline solution in the presence of a catalyst and excess base with air as the oxidant. The resulting furoate solution from the first process step is dried to remove water. The anhydrous solid products are sent to a carboxylation process to produce FDCA salt, which can optionally be further reacted to form FDCA or FDCA ester.

  • Patent number: 10927057
Abstract: A process for ethylbenzene conversion and xylene isomerization of an alkylaromatic feed mixture is described. A C8 alkylaromatic feed mixture can be contacted with two catalyst beds successively in the liquid phase in a C8 aromatic hydrocarbon isomerization zone. The first catalyst comprises a passivated zeolite containing a ten-membered ring channel framework for the conversion of ethylbenzene. The second catalyst comprises UZM-54 zeolite for selective isomerization of the xylenes.

  • Patent number: 10450240
Abstract: It is desirable to provide improved processes and apparatuses for methylation of aromatic compounds such as toluene and benzene in an aromatics complex. Described herein are processes and apparatuses for methylation of aromatics in an aromatics complex for producing a xylene isomer product. More specifically, processes and apparatuses for producing para-xylene by the selective methylation of toluene and/or benzene in an aromatics complex.

  • Publication number: 20190062240
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and apparatus for dual feed para-xylene extraction heavy desorbent and light desorbent aromatics complex flow scheme. More specifically, the present invention relates to a process and apparatus for dual feed para-xylene extraction heavy desorbent and light desorbent aromatics complex flow scheme that takes advantage of the separation efficiency already achieved by toluene methylation or toluene disproportionation processes by sending the high concentration para-xylene to xylene feed to the corresponding concentration position in the para-xylene extraction unit. This enables further para-xylene separation and recovery that can be done with greater energy and capital efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20140296602
Abstract: An extruded C8 alkylaromatic isomerization catalyst is described. The catalyst has an average pore diameter in a range of about 110 ? to about 155 ? measured by BJH adsorption method and a pore volume less than about 0.62 cc/g measured by N2 porosimetry. A process for isomerizing a non-equilibrium C8 aromatic feed to provide an isomerized product is also described.
