  • Publication number: 20200266506
Abstract: A battery module includes a housing. The battery module also includes a plurality of electrochemical cells disposed adjacent to each other and received within the housing. The battery module further includes an inner cover disposed between the housing and the plurality of electrochemical cells. The inner cover includes a top surface facing the housing and a bottom surface facing the plurality of electrochemical cells. The inner cover also includes a plurality of fluid channels defined on the bottom surface and extending along a length of the inner cover. Each of the plurality of channels is configured to receive a fluid. The inner cover further includes a plurality of grooves defined on the top surface and extending along the length of the inner cover. Each of the plurality of grooves is configured to receive one or more electrical components.

  • Publication number: 20200266403
Abstract: Battery module for a propulsion battery system of an electrical vehicle, comprising a plurality of battery cells, arranged in a cooling volume for containing a cooling fluid for cooling the battery cells, and a plurality of wall elements defining the cooling volume. One of the wall elements (33) comprises an inner surface (110), oriented towards one of the battery cells, for contacting the cooling fluid, and an outer surface forming an exterior surface of the battery module. The inner surface is shaped to define a plurality of grooves (130) or a plurality of ridges for increasing the contact surface between the wall element and the cooling fluid, and for directing the flow of the cooling fluid in the cooling volume.

  • Publication number: 20200266507
Abstract: A battery module includes a housing defining a longitudinal direction along a length of the housing. The battery module also includes a plurality of electrochemical cells received within the housing. The battery module further includes a first inlet configured to receive a first flow of fluid. The battery module includes at least one first flow channel in fluid communication with the first inlet and extending along the longitudinal direction of the housing. The battery module includes a first outlet in fluid communication with the at least one first flow channel. The battery module further includes a second inlet configured to receive a second flow of fluid. The battery module includes at least one second flow channel in fluid communication with the second inlet and extending along the longitudinal direction of the housing. The battery module includes a second outlet in fluid communication with the at least one second flow channel.
