  • Patent number: 5606591
Abstract: A method of measuring the dimensions of the optical focus of an X-ray tube is described which consists of producing an X-ray image of the optical focus on a fine-grained X-ray-sensitive film, illuminating the radiogram obtained by means of a lamp emitting homogeneous radiation and taking a video image of the radiogram by means of a video camera, processing the video image so as to obtain a digitized image of the optical focus, and measuring the dimensions of the optical focus from the digitized image obtained.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 1995
Date of Patent: February 25, 1997
Assignee: Societe Nationale d'Etude et de Construction de Moteurs d'Aviation
    Inventors: Etienne C. Montel, Veronique H. M. P. Prejean-Lefevre
  • Patent number: 5570431
Abstract: Quantitative characterization of a crack detection analysis method is achieved by determining the detection sensitivity and background noise produced by the analysis method by suitably processing images obtained from one or more control specimens prepared by the method and subjected to appropriate and optimized conditions of illumination. In addition, the crack detection analysis method is optimized by looking for the parameters which influence the method and determining the value thereof which maximizes detection sensitivity and minimizes background noise.

Date of Patent: October 29, 1996
Assignee: Societe Nationale d'Etude et de Construction de Moteurs d'Aviation "Snecma"
    Inventors: Herve, P. R. Gillard, Veronique H. M. P. Prejean-Lefevre
  • Patent number: 5563417
Abstract: An apparatus for characterizing an analysis method based on fluorescent crack detection. The surface defects in articles to be checked are revealed by using a visible radiation around an excitation wavelength. The apparatus includes an illumination device, a camera and an image processor. The illumination device includes an ultraviolet light source, a monochromator and a light guide to focus the ultraviolet radiation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 6, 1995
Date of Patent: October 8, 1996
Assignee: Societe Nationale d'Etude et de Construction de Moteurs d'Aviation "SNECMA"
    Inventors: Herve P. R. Gillard, Veronique H. M. P. Prejean Lefevre
  • Patent number: 5351307
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the acquisition and processing of screen images or radiographs and to an apparatus making it possible to inspect or control mechanical parts. The process consists of obtaining at least two screen images of the part to be inspected, converting said images into digital video images coded on several grey levels, correcting each image with respect to itself and then with respect to a reference image and finally binarizing the corrected images in order to superimpose them, so as to determine the image points which correspond and thus detect defects. Application to the control and inspection of mechanical parts.
