    Abstract: An expansion card (1) of an electronic device (2) comprises in accordance with the invention at least one expansion-card connector (6b) for connecting the expansion card (1) to an expansion-card connector (6a) of an electronic device. The expansion card (1) has at least one standard normal operation mode and at least one special operation mode which differs at least partially from said standard. The operation mode is arranged to be selected by at least one mode-selection line (3) which is connected to a contact pin of the expansion-card connector (6b), which contact pin has a respective contact pin (SPKR#, IREQ#, IOIS16#, WAIT#, STSCHG#) for the expansion-card connector (6a) of the electronic device (2), said respective contact pin being defined in said standard as an input line of the electronic device, which can be used, if necessary, also for the original purpose.
