Publication number: 20200407185Abstract: In a reel-up for reeling of fiber webs, a web travelling in direction (S) is cut by two water jet nozzles moving in a transverse direction. Two cuts (C1, C2) are formed by the nozzles starting from the web edges moving to the web center where the cuts (C1, C2) cross or meet forming a V-shaped tail end (V1). After the cuts nozzle movement is stopped and after the return of the nozzles, cutting is restarted from the center toward the edges so the web W is cut by two cuts (C3, C4) forming a substantially V-shaped beginning end (V2) and between the cuts (C1, C2) for the tail end (V1) and the cuts (C3, C4) for the beginning end (V2) there is formed one web reject part (R) with two substantially V-shaped cuts. Cross-direction travel distance (L1, L2) of each nozzle is substantially shorter than the web width.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 14, 2020Publication date: December 31, 2020Applicant: Valmet Technologies OyInventors: Jaakko Haapanen, Kimmo Penttilä, Vesa Riihelä, Kai Forssen

Patent number: 10800628Abstract: In a turn-up method for a reel-up for reeling of fiber webs, a web travelling in direction (S) is cut by two water jet nozzles moving in a transverse direction in relation to the web travelling direction (S). Two cuts (C1, C2) are formed by two water jet nozzles starting from the edges of the web (W) and moving to the web center where the cuts (C1, C2) cross or meet forming a V-shaped tail end (V1). After the cuts the movement of the water jet nozzles is stopped and after the return movement of the water jet nozzles, cutting is started again from the center toward the edges so that the web W is cut by two cuts (C3, C4) and a substantially V-shaped beginning end (V2) to the web W is formed and between the cuts (C1, C2) for the tail end (V1) and the cuts (C3, C4) for the beginning end (V2) there is formed one web reject part (R) with two substantially V-shaped cuts.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2019Date of Patent: October 13, 2020Assignee: VALMET TECHNOLOGIES OYInventors: Jaakko Haapanen, Kimmo Penttilä, Vesa Riihelä, Kai Forssen

Patent number: 10144607Abstract: A reel-up for reeling of a fiber web (W) around a reel spool (15B) to form a parent roll (20B; 20A) by use of a reeling nip (N) between a reeling cylinder (10) of the reel-up and the parent roll (20B) under reeling, has a primary reeling position and a secondary reeling position. The reel-up (10) has the reeling cylinder (10), substantially horizontal guides (14) and for each end of the reel spool (15A; 15B), loading arms (12,13; 16,17) and carriages (18) and the primary reeling position is fixed.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2016Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: VALMET TECHNOLOGIES OYInventors: Sami Hyötynen, Timo Hämäläinen, Vesa Riihelä, Risto Mäkinen

Publication number: 20080251628Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus in reeling up, in which a paper web or the like (W) is reeled around a center-driven reel spool (5), which is transferred from the primary reeling to the secondary reeling, in which reeling the reel spool (5) is transferred in accordance with the growth of the reel by means of a transfer device (7) at least at some stage of the reeling and the web is brought at said stage from below the reel spool (5) via a reeling nip (N1) formed by the reel spool (5) and a loop (1) of an endless supporting member. According to the invention the web (W) is guided around the reel spool (5) during the reeling via an auxiliary nip (N2) formed by means of the reel spool (5) and the roll (10, 10?).Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2005Publication date: October 16, 2008Inventors: Matti Kemppainen, Vesa Riihela, Teppo Kojo, Risto Makinen, Ilkka Naatti, Marko Tiilikainen

Publication number: 20070023561Abstract: A belt reeler has a reeling nip (7) formed by a reeling core (6) or a growing machine reel (4) and at least one endless supporting member (3) traveling at least via a first wire guiding roll (1), and a second wire guiding roll (2). Several parameters of the belt reeler are adjusted simultaneously to adjust the reeling process, of which parameters at least the first parameter and the second parameter are one of the following: web tension (P1), wire tension (P2), distance of the machine reel from the wire turning roll (P3), depression of the wire/machine reel (P4), surface draw (P5, P5?, P5?), and peripheral force (P6).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2006Publication date: February 1, 2007Inventors: Matti Kemppainen, Jari Tiitta, Vesa Riihela, Topi Tynkkynen, Teppo Kojo, Risto Makinen, Marko Tiilikainen, Ilkka Naatti

Publication number: 20060175456Abstract: Before a reel change a new core (5) is brought to a change station. When the old reel (R) is full, the web is changed to travel to the new core periphery and primary reeling beings. The web forms a reel through a reeling nip (N1) between the loop of an endless supporting member (1) and the core. A change is made to secondary reeling, where a portion of the supporting member (1) brings the web to the reel, to move over to the reel in a nip (N) between said portion and the reel outer periphery. The core (5) is transferred so the nip (N) moves forward. A first guide roll (2) is transferred towards the core periphery so the distance of the nip (N1) located between the core (5) and the loop of the supporting member (1) from the first guide roll (2) changes in the primary reeling.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 10, 2004Publication date: August 10, 2006Inventors: Ilkka Naatti, Teppo Kojo, Risto Makinen, Vesa Riihela, Matti Kemppainen, Olli Tuominen, Topi Tynkkynen

Patent number: 6588696Abstract: In the method in unwinding, paper web (W) is discharged from a reel (R1) that is becoming empty and the paper web of a new full reel (R2) is spliced at the discharge speed to the paper web discharged from the reel that is becoming empty. The terminal end point (L) of the web of the reel (R1) that is becoming empty is stored as information indicating its position in the longitudinal direction of the web in a readable memory (M) corresponding to the reel. During the discharge the distance travelled by the web is determined and compared to the memory, and when there is a predetermined length of web to the terminal end point (L) remaining on the reel (R1) that is becoming empty, a splicing command is given, whereafter the leading end of the paper web of a new full reel (R2) is spliced to the paper web (W) being discharged.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2000Date of Patent: July 8, 2003Assignee: Metso Paper, Inc.Inventors: Vesa Riihelä, Timo Eskola
