Abstract: A method, system, and program for modifying a DHCP configuration for one system according to a request from another system are provided. A first system specifies a modify packet to request modification of a stored configuration for a dynamically configured system. The first system then sends the modify packet to a DHCP server that manages the stored configuration for the dynamically configured system. Responsive to the DHCP server authenticating the first system as privileged to make the modification request, the DHCP server modifies the stored configuration according to the modify packet, such that one system can request modification of the DHCP configuration for another system without logging into the DHCP server.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for a communications device transferring data. A signal strength is received for a communications link used to transfer data to a destination. In response to the signal strength less than a threshold, the data is cached in the communications device to form cached data. In response to a loss and reestablishment of the communications link, the cached data is sent to the destination.

Abstract: A system and method for designating and deleting expired files includes a means for storing expiration dates along with file identification data maintained by the file system. An earliest expiration date is stored in data maintained by the file system pertaining to each directory. In this manner, a check of the directory data indicates whether one or more expired files exist in the directory. The system date is compared to the earliest expiration date for a directory, for example when a “list contents of directory” command is received. If the earliest expiration date is earlier than the system date then a comparison is made with the files in the directory and individual files with expiration dates earlier than the current date are deleted. The earliest expiration date is then update to the correspond to the next earliest expiration date falling after the current date.

Abstract: The present invention provides a system and a method for remotely managing a server processing system, by using a wireless communications device. The wireless communications device sends a request for managing the server processing system to the server processing system through a gateway. The request is formatted in a first protocol in the wireless communications device, and is sent to the gateway. The gateway converts the request to be formatted in a second protocol, and sends the request to the server processing system. In response to the request, the server processing system sends a response, formatted in the second protocol, to the wireless communications device through the gateway. This time, the gateway converts the response to be formatted in the first protocol, and sends the response to the wireless communications device.
