Abstract: Hair treatment compositions and methods for treating hair using the compositions are disclosed. The hair treatment compositions include: (a) one or more cationic surfactants; (b) one or more solid fatty alcohols; (c) one or more liquid fatty alcohols; (d) one or more low polar oils having a Polarity Index of about 23 mN/m to about 40 mN/m; and (e) water; wherein a weight ratio of a combination of (c) and (d) to a combination of (a) and (b) is from about 0.5:1 to about 3:1 (((c)+(d)):((a)+(b))). The hair treatment compositions are particularly useful in methods for detangling, aligning, and smoothing the hair.

Abstract: The instant disclosure is drawn to a hair treatment composition comprising: (a) citric acid, a salt thereof, or a combination thereof; (b) one or more cyclodextrins, derivatives thereof, or a combination thereof; (c) one or more cyclic carbonates; (d) one or more polysaccharide thickening agents; (e) optionally, one or more water soluble solvents; and (f) water. The hair treatment compositions optionally includes one or more amino functionalized silicones, nonionic surfactants or emulsifiers, and/or miscellaneous ingredients. The hair treatment compositions are particularly useful in methods for improving hair fiber alignment, reducing frizz, and imparting smoothness to hair.

The hair treatment composition includes: (a) citric acid, salt thereof, or combination thereof; (b) cyclodextrin, a derivative thereof, or a combination thereof; (c) one or more cyclic carbonates; and water. The leave-on composition includes: (a) one or more silicones; (b) one or more film-forming polymers; and water. After treating the hair with the hair treatment composition and the leave-on composition, the hair is subjected to a thermal heat treatment, for example, treatment with a hot iron, preferably a flat iron, at a temperature of 150 to about 280° C. The methods are useful for improving hair fiber alignment, reducing frizz, and imparting smoothness to the hair.

Abstract: The instant disclosure is drawn to a hair treatment composition comprising: (a) one or more cyclic carbonates; (b) one or more amino-functionalized silicones; (c) one or more polysaccharides; (d) one or more nonionic associative polymeric thickeners; (e) one or more nonionic surfactants or emulsifiers; and (f) water. The weight ratio of the one or more cyclic carbonates to the one or more amino-functionalized silicones is typically from about 12:1 to 1:2. The compositions are useful as a leave-on product in methods for improving hair fiber alignment, reducing frizz, and imparting smoothness to the hair, while providing heat protection properties to the hair.

The leave on composition comprises: (a) one or more silicones; (b) one or more film-forming polymers; and (c) water. Abstract: The instant disclosure is drawn to a hair treatment method including: (i) applying a hair smoothing composition including at least one keto acid to the hair, allowing the composition to remain on the hair, and rinsing the hair smoothing composition from the hair; (ii) applying a conditioning composition to the hair, allowing the conditioning composition to remain on the hair, and rinsing the conditioning composition from the hair; the conditioning composition including: one or more polar fatty compounds; one or more water-miscible solvents; and one or more cationic surfactants; wherein the conditioning composition is substantially free of water; and (iii) applying a leave-on finishing composition to the hair, the leave-on finishing composition including: one or more cyclic carbonates, one or more silicones; and water.
