  • Patent number: 11209958
Abstract: A content access device ranks content that is available to be accessed based at least on previous user content selection behavior information compared to a current situation. The content access device generates and presents a content access (or navigation) menu that indicates content selected based on the ranking. The menu may include a primary menu element that corresponds to and presents a highest ranked of the content, a secondary menu element that corresponds to and presents still images of a secondary ranked group of the content that are all smaller than the primary menu element, and a tertiary menu element that corresponds to and presents text descriptions of a tertiary ranked group of the content that are all smaller than the still images.

  • Publication number: 20200280760
Abstract: A digital video recorder records first content from a channel broadcast that includes second content adjacent to the first content in response to a user request and stores a border around the first content that includes a portion of the second content and metadata related to the second content. The border may be previous and/or subsequent to the first content. In some implementations, the digital video recorder may obtain the metadata from a source other than from which the digital video recorder receives the content. The first content and the metadata may be recorded at the same and/or different times.

  • Publication number: 20190090004
Abstract: A content provider network device generates a user interface which can be used to access both content assets available through the content provider network and content assets available from one or more devices of one or more providers outside the content provider network. In some implementations, the user interface is generated based on collected first metadata regarding a first set of content assets available through a content provider and second metadata regarding a second set of content assets available from a device of a provider outside the content provider network. In various implementations, a selection may be received via the user interface for out of network content that requires authentication and the content provider network device may manage the authentication. In numerous implementations, the content provider network device may determine available first and second sets of content and selects a subset to base the user interface thereon.

  • Publication number: 20180359535
Abstract: A content access device is operable to present a user interface that includes content type menu elements arranged on a first axis, content category menu elements arranged on a second axis, and content selection elements arranged in an area between the first axis and the second axis. The content selection elements arranged in the area between the first and second axes may correspond to a selected content type menu element and a selected content category menu element. The content access device may change the content selection elements arranged in the area upon selection of a different content type menu element and/or a different content category menu element.
