  • Patent number: 5457688
Abstract: A system for acquiring data from a plurality of analog signal sources inces a multiple-channel asynchronously operating first-stage subsystem each channel of which outputs composite digital representations of the analog signal, which in turn are passed to a digital processor in which the data are used by a second-stage subsystem (40). The second-stage subsystem (40) has a plurality of signal processing units (48), each having an input coupled to a different output channel of the first-stage subsystem. Each of the signal processing units includes a first buffer (48-2). The system also includes a plurality of data processing units (52, 54). The data processing units have an input coupled to an output of a first buffer of the signal processing units. Each of the data processing units operates under an operating program providing formatting into a data packet having a predetermined format.

  • Patent number: 5396598
Abstract: A hydrophone analog signal data acquisition, A/D conversion and data transsion system includes a first-stage signal processing subsystem which provides digital representations of the hydrophone analog signal which in turn are signal processed for transmission in the form of data packets by a second-stage signal processing subsystem (40). Subsystem (40) includes a plurality of signal processing units (48) having inputs coupled to a corresponding plurality of output channels of the first-stage signal process for receiving therefrom digital representations of hydrophone analog signals from different sources. Each of the signal processing units includes a first buffer (48-2), an identification of a hydrophone that generated the acoustic information, and a time that the acoustic information is received from the hydrophone. The system further includes a plurality of data processing units (52, 54) individually coupled to an output of the first buffer of one of the signal processing units.

Abstract: A hydrophone analog signal data acquisition, A/D conversion and data transsion system includes a first-stage signal processing subsystem which provides digital representations of the hydrophone analog signal, which in turn are signal processed for transmission in the form of data packets by a second stage signal processing subsystem (40). Subsystem 40 includes a plurality of Data Multiplexer/FIFO units (48), including corresponding selectively acting data unit accumulators, each accumulator having a plurality of inputs coupled to output channels of the first-stage signal processing subsystem for receiving digital representations of hydrophone analog signals. Each data unit accumulator includes a first buffer (48-2) for storing information that includes a digital representation of the analog hydrophone signal, an identification of a hydrophone that generated the acoustic information, and a time that the acoustic information is received from the hydrophone.

  • Patent number: 5249085
Abstract: A system, or applique apparatus, for recording and reproducing large numb of electrical signals on input channel limited recording devices is described. It is accomplished by time sequencing groups of pluralities of separate input signals to a plurality of recording units within a recorder, wherein each recording unit handles a separate group of input signals. The time sequence is provided by a multiplexer controller and is common to each group. The plurality of recording units after recording the signals provide them in the groups in which they were received to respective demultiplexers. A demultiplex controller that receives 2 timing signals from the multiplex controller via the recorder supplies timing signals to the plurality of demultiplexers for reconstruction of the original input signals.

  • Patent number: 4914640
Abstract: In combination with any signal processor system which uses an R-C integra type energy detector to recognize the presence of electrical signals such as those that are proportional to a received acoustic ping signal, the turnaround time stability improvement comprising a timing initiation signal recognition means, a validation means, first and second one-shorts for A/D conversion, and AND gate means for receiving the timing initiation signal and the validation signal and outputting a valid ping timing signal only when both are true, said valid ping timing signal in turn causing subsequent actions normally initiated by this event to occur, such as a transponder system incorporation the present invention projecting a return ping into the water.
