    Abstract: An apparatus for the recovery of fine particulate material of the type that uses a tube sheet arrangement and a multiplicity of centrifugal separation devices provides improved separation by extending a skirt to confine a particle outlet stream and raise its superficial velocity. The separation arrangement partially confines a downwardly directed flow of particles and gas from the separator thereby raising the effective superficial velocity of the particle stream without increasing the portion of the gas steam that exits with the recovered particles. As a result the device provides a greater recovery of particles without increasing the quantity of gas that accompanies the separated fine particles without the need for complete confinement of the particles that exit the separator.

    Abstract: A slide valve for use in throttling the flow of fluid containing solid particles uses a fixed triangle orifice to reduce flow impingement on the wall of the valve defined by the valve body. The triangular shape and its orientation minimizes the flow of particles near the wall and geometrically increases the flow area with the movement of a single disc to reduce the decentralization of flow through the valve as the disc effects flow control.

    Abstract: A process vessel which contains a control system for maintaining average pressure drop across gas discharge nozzles above a minimum valve to prevent the occurrence of inactive nozzles, said nozzles comprising part of a distributor which is used to distribute gas across the lower portion of the processing vessel, wherein the control system comprises:(a) means for establishing a flow signal representative of the rate of flow of gas in said pipeline supplying the gas to said distributor;(b) means for establishing a temperature signal representative of the temperature of the gas flowing in said distributor;(c) means for establishing a pressure signal representative of the pressure of the gas flowing in said distributor;(d) computing means for calculating the average pressure drop across said nozzles using said flow, pressure, and temperature signals and appropriate constant parameters and equations;(e) means for comparing said average pressure drop across said nozzles with a minimum value, generating a correction

    Abstract: A catalyst regeneration process and apparatus for the oxidation of coke from a spent catalyst and for the conversion of CO resulting from the oxidation of coke to CO.sub.2.Novel feature of the process is the combination of a vertical heat exchange zone and horizontal mixing zone in which a portion of regenerated catalyst produced in a coke oxidation zone and heated to a higher temperature in a CO-conversion zone and spent catalyst are heat exchanged and fresh regeneration gas is then added, to increase the temperature within the coke oxidation zone and to disperse the portion of hot regenerated catalyst, spent catalyst and fresh regeneration gas more evenly into and within that zone thereby increasing the rate, extent and evenness of coke and CO oxidation. The regeneration apparatus includes components by which this can be accomplished.
