Abstract: Job logs are mined in order to compute a redirection matrix for managing operation of a plurality of systems. The redirection matrix may be used to identify alternative systems in the event a user selected system becomes unavailable to which a job may be redirected. In addition, the redirection matrix may be used to compute a network printer topology and print clusters for use with network management and system analysis.

Abstract: A secure release of a job request is managed at a document processing system that has been issued a private key and a public key. In one embodiment, the job request includes a first part specifying job information that is encrypted using a symmetric key, and a second part specifying the symmetric key that is encrypted with a recipient's public key. The document processing system begins release of the job request upon receipt of the symmetric key encrypted using its public key. The document processing system uses its private key to decrypt the encrypted symmetric key. The decrypted symmetric key is then used to decrypt the first part of the job request, thereby permitting the document processing system to complete performance of the job request.

Abstract: A printer is adapted to offer web services to users through a print request. The printer includes gateway functionality for providing rapid and secure access to document services offered by document service providers. A service registry, which may be a registry operated by the manufacturer of the printer, manages the list of document service providers.
