  • Patent number: 5664614
Abstract: A venetian blind assembly is characterized by a unitary major pull cord for raising and lowering a bottom rail, the major cord extending from a head of the assembly to expose a first end by which a user may operate the major cord, the major cord being connected at a second end thereof to a minor cord at a connection point, which minor cord is connected to a bottom rail of the assembly, whereby a raising or lowering of the major cord in turn pulls the minor cord to thereby lower or raise the bottom rail, the connection point of the major and minor cords being located such that when the major cord is pulled toward a fully exposed position, the connection point is located either external of the head but in close proximity thereto or is located within the head.

  • Patent number: 4886102
Abstract: A venetian blind has a plurality of slats, a head, brackets for mounting the head on a support, ladder assemblies for suspending the slats from the head, cables provided in the head for lifting and lowering the slats, and cables provided in the head for tilting the slats from essentially horizontal positions to tilted positions and vice-versa. The head has a top and no bottom intermediate the top and the slats.

  • Patent number: 4487243
Abstract: A venetian blind with a very low head channel and narrow slats, having a lift cord lock, a tilter, and cradles, all of which can simply be snapped in place in the head channel. The cord lock has an integral, one-piece sheet metal housing. The tilter has a plastic housing open at the top through which the gear and worm shaft can be introduced before being closed with a cover. The blind has drums forming plastic sleeves split to fit over the tilt rod and with slits for receiving barbed end portions of ladders for suspending the slats. The lower ends of the ladders and of the lift cord are fastened to the bottom rail of the blind by button-like plastic caps.

  • Patent number: 4476909
Abstract: A cord lock for a venetian blind lift cord; having a housing with two side walls in spaced, substantially parallel relationship to each other, each side wall being provided with an oblong window with the windows in alignment with each other. A cam extends in the housing through the windows and is slidably and non-removably received in the windows. Each side wall also is provided with an elongated slot extending essentially vertically and at an angle with respect to the window, the slots being in alignment with each other. A cord glide body is non-rotatably but slidably received in the slots. The cord lock enables a lift cord passed in the housing over the cord glide body and between the cord glide body and the cam to be releasably locked therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4386644
Abstract: A vertical blind having a blind head with a tilt rod, a cap mounted to one end of the head and including a bushing, a sleeve connected to the tilt rod and rotatably supported in the bushing, and a worm gear located within the cap and connected to the sleeve, and a worm on a shaft accessible from outside the cap and operatively connected to the worm gear for rotating the same by means of a wand. Alternatively, a sprocket wheel is located within the cap and connected to the sleeve, and a bead chain accessible from the outside passes over the sprocket wheel for rotating the same.

  • Patent number: 4341254
Abstract: A venetian blind has a blind head and slats, brackets for supporting the blind head, and a frame having side channel members to receive the ends of the slats. Clip means connect both the bracket to window opening structure and to the side channel members.

  • Patent number: 4262728
Abstract: In a vertical blind with a blind head and a number of carriers supported for reciprocating movement in the head, and holders respectively supported in the carriers for pivotal movement and adapted to support a plurality of vertical vanes therefrom, with a control for controlling the reciprocating movement of the carriers and pivotal movement of the holders including a tilt rod: first bevel gears respectively rotatably supported in the carriers and mounted for rotation with the tilt rod, and a second bevel gears respectively connected to the holders and respectively mounted for meshing engagement with the first bevel gears. The carriers are interconnected by special spacer bands and have special openings for receiving the cord for traversing or drawing the blind. The blind is also equipped with a simple arrangement for preventing the cord from sagging, without using an intermediate support.

  • Patent number: 4261408
Abstract: In a vertical blind with a blind head, a tilt rod for tilting vanes suspended from the blind head in carriers, and a traverse cord for reciprocating the carriers in the head to thereby open and close the blind: a lever connected to the tilt rod for rotation therewith and having an opening spaced from the tilt rod and through which the traverse cord passes. Rotation of the tilt rod will bend and squeeze the traverse cord and thereby prevent its reciprocation when the vanes of the blind are tilted closed.
